The fights were very informative to Canis' eyes. Lucanus, the young, small Grecian was fast with good coordination and footwork. His flaws were many, of course, including the way that his body would show how he would strike, arrogance, which Canis hoped would be depleted, and not taking the strengths of his opponent in to fact as well. Those would be hard hard to overcome, but as much as he hated to admit it, Heimdal had been right. Perfectly ambidextrous fighters were hard to find, as Lucanus was as close to it as it would come. He would set Darma to train him, and if he showed promise, Canis himself would show interest in his training. Tane was of equal promise he saw. He was a large man, physically intimidating to the untrained eye, but, even if faster than his size would give, he was still slow and cumbersome. But there was little training that could change that. The idea was to make this man a mountain, impossible to approach without having one's head bashed in. He needed more muscle mass, but with proper training, the only possible way to attack him would be to face death. And few men, even gladiators would be able to do that. Footwork was needed as well, although the giant proved himself to be a natural when it came to that. His laughter too, was infectious, and Canis found himself smiling along with him at the end of the fight. M'baka, stoic as always, moved back into position and the slave boy removed the weapons. The crowds would adore him. But, surprisingly, the man that showed the the most promise was Miserow. Yes, he was easy to bait, easy to anger, and his balance and footwork needed a lot of training, but beyond that, Canis saw something intelligent in the man's eyes. He was a quick learner, with a sharp mind for breaches in defense, and until now, the only one of the Trainees that had successfully landed a blow on their Doctore's, even if it was weak and unskilled. While this man would not be as easily popular amongst the crowds of Maro, he had the make and heart of a champion in him. "I can't help but agree, old friend," Canis said in a low voice," He has the potential to be great. But he needs training. You will train him, Heimdal," The large man nodded and turned to Cynbel as the man spoke, and the young woman as well, both of who were ready, in their minds to accept the challenge. He nodded," Heimdal, you will take the young man," He was more excited now. They were learning their place now, the trainees, and he was seeing what potential they had in them. He was seeing the genius in his plan now," Luminia, spar with the young woman, and..." He chuckled," Try not to send her to the infirmary too..." Speaking of," He turned to the slave boy," Escort him," Pointing at Miserow, who was still leaking blood from his nose," To the infirmary, and ask the Medicus if the Grecian is ready to return."
