I want to keep this moving. So: Character Sheet ------------------------------------------------------- Name: -------- Age: ------------- Class: -------------------------------------------------- Faction: ------------------------------------------------------- Background: ------------------------------------------ Personality: --------------------------------------------------- Tips: Class and personality: Remember that each class has to do with each characters psychological flaws and drives. You don't have to play these flaws cut and dry but your character development with their own powers should determine if they become more unhealthy and unwell or happily adjusted with their self worth and identity. Class and love: Can two opposing classes, even elements fall in love? Yes. They can. Classes are strong psychological parts of a character but people are made up of many things, life experiences, biology, ideas, philosophies and even impulse. An enemy of renew could fall in love with a manifest of renew for her ideas and her dedication hobbies, maybe even because he see her being a positive force of renew and is enchanted by it. The two can be in love but they'd be a bad couple...even if they were both healthy and both sincere, the enemy would still at his core slowly widdle down her personality ether by discarding her ways of expression or seeing her quirks as unhealthy outbursts. For factions: Desperation Meet Dignity: Most people, even if proud and unified won't normally suffer with those they don't know in mind or for abstract ideas. Your faction can preach equality but if it causes discomfort you can expect a good 20% to bypass it and 30% to just be apathetic. Same with diversity, rationing, aggression and so on. If being aggressive causes discomfort for their family or them, you can expect people to be apathetic or even kind in practice. It's hard to get everyone on board, especially as factions get bigger. Forward, not backward: People perceives things as a story, because we are evolved to do so. If you make people go backwards it forces them to examine each error individually because they don't take narrative for granted (try this when you proof read) even smart people may not remember the number of starving kids in Africa even if they care. The human brain isn't made to attach emotion to abstract mathematical concepts. A narrative, especially the more like a story it plays the more it unifies. Imagine, if you will. Nazis. Excuse the political aspect but. When germany after ww1 were split up, lacking food, no currency to speak off and denied to build a proper defensive army. So, think about how they got so angry. They're all sitting around a house, eating bread and do the only thing to do...share stories. "My wife has lost ten stone. She keeps giving her food to the kids" the next guy "yeah. At least your kids are fed, he keeps saying 'but we got money papa'" then the next guy "Yeah. Money. I was saving up for a dream car...seven years...all that over time and now my kids play with my savings for bunkers" Stories. Do you think some of them would of even been as mad if one turn to the other and went "Brother. The german currency dropped by 30%" as the war goes on, this ideal of narrative gets played stronger by many. It's one of the corner stones of appealing to people and propaganda. The opposite in a narrative is when you are the bad guy. This is also why history is a field or study and not natural onto humans. Partnership by Proximity: People generally don't care about others they don't see or aren't important to their immediate life style. The major exception is when things get political and sense of solidarity is created or fracturing takes place. Because distant people suddenly have relevance to their lifes, on the day to day average folks don't care about what the people in Yorkshire are doing or going thru if they live in London. Q: Do I HAVE to follow theses? A: No. These are just tips, you are free to create how you feel. But if you want try and get a little fantasy political with your faction and get stuck, these are here to help you think about ways forces may act. You can even think about what would make people act against these tips and build off that. It's ok to add a little insanity. I did that with the Eastern Woes. It depends on what you're going for. Q: I don't want to start a sheet without seeing some more detailed main land factions. Are you going to make some? A: Yes. I am. Those will be more in depth than the vague world descriptions because they're local. I'll put that up soon. Q: I want to add colors to my sheet. Can I? A: No. Colors disgust me. You disgust me. Never return. .....Q Wait. ...............................Q Come back. .............................................................................................Q He ain't coming back. I've learned my lessons, you are all free to format and style your sheets as you like.
