As a GM my general rule of thumb is to wait until everyone's had a chance to post before making major story progressions. In situations like right now where we're waiting on everyone to have a chance to post, character interaction and exploration is fine. As Eisenhorn mentioned, post order will really only matter during combat situations and the like.
