Kasyra, before the timeskip.
--- “Ten Seconds.” Kasyra replied to Khoshins query, watching the capacitor for her shield refill while keeping an eye on the tactical display. The downside of having such a strong shield was that if it did drop, it was not quick to restore, and her shield boost only helped strengthen it while it was already raised. Unlike some of the wannabe tough guys here, she would not risk getting shot without her shields. While she was certainly better at taking a bullet than most Quarians, that really wasn’t saying much. Most Quarians panicked when they got shot and ended up with a dozen horrible infections. Kasyra still got nasty infections, but she had learnt to at least apply a cobbled together concoction of medigel and much stronger anti-infection agents in a timely manner. All the same, she preferred simply not getting shot. Especially since her armor was meant more as a mounting point for shields and tech dampening mesh than actually stopping bullets. As the seconds ticked by, she stuck just the barrel of the gun over the edge of the crate and squeezed off a couple of blind shots so the remaining four eyes wouldn’t get any ideas. Two… One… The familiar sound of her shields raising again filled Kasyra’s ears as her armor capacitors stabilised their charge and the multiple shield generator nodes began projecting the invisible shell of the kinetic barrier that kept her safe. As soon as the shield was fully online, she stood to her full height, gun raised in one hand and omni tool glowing brightly over the other and unleashed a barrage upon the last remaining Batarians position. Several shots from the powerful Carnifex struck around his cover, followed by an overload blast. None of the attacks directly struck, Lonato squeezing down behind his cover as much as he could under the assault. But that was exactly what Kasyra wanted, it gave her time to vault over her own cover and cover the ground between them at a sprint. She leapt up onto the crate Lonato was hidden behind, and as he rose from his crouch to try and react, delivered a swift kick to his jaw. He was sent sprawling backwards, landing on his back awkwardly. Kasy hopped down, extending her Cryo blade to stab him while he was down. To his credit, he saw the impending threat and rolled away far faster than she was expecting. She moved to close the distance, but just like that he was on his feet again. Lonato extended his own omni blade and balled his other hand into a fist. He wasted no time committing to a stab at her face. He was quick. She would give him that. Still, she was quicker. She sidestepped the attack, placing a checking hand on his elbow to ensure he didn’t come back around with a slash, simultaneously stepping in and jabbing the barrel of her heavy pistol into his ribs under his arm. He might’ve crumpled if he had time to react before she pulled the trigger. At point blank range his weak under-arm armor provided virtually no protection, and the shot tore through his torso. Destroying all manner of internal organs as it went, his now dying form fell to the ground with a thud. To make sure he was finished, she placed the edge of her foot on his neck and pressed down, choking him quickly. He had been the last Batarian (excluding Khoshin) in the warehouse. His death meant that they had well and truly secured three eyes, meaning half of their payment was essentially guaranteed. Now it was time to move on and secure the other half.
