Go away." Name: Eirwen Soyala "...unless you're blind, use your goddamn eyes." Gender: Female "Nineteen. Didn't I just say go away?" Age: 19 Yawn~ Species: Mostly Human. "...if you're eyeing me because you want a date...the sun has a better chance of blowing up." Appearance: Standing at a fairly average five foot six, Eirwen isn't all that physically impressive. Though, that's not peoples first impression when they see her. If anything, it'd be her rather long hair, and its unnatural coloring. White on one side, and black on the other, unevenly split down the middle which would probably annoy the hell out of an OCD person. The next, would be her ice blue eyes and her almost ghostly pale complexion. After that, they would probably notice the perpetual scowl and dark bags under her eyes, suggesting the girl gets little sleep for whatever reason. She does, in fact, suffer from chronic insomnia, which may play a part in her perpetual bad mood. There have been attempts to try and fix this, but it seems magic and even drugs aren't much of a cure for it. Additionally, if one were to touch her hair, they'd find it'd feel oddly...soft. Almost fur-like in quality. "Let me make myself clearer: I hate people like you, so take a hint, Yawn~ and get lost" Personality: In a few short words? Grumpy, easily annoyed, and generally could honestly care less about you and your problems. Greedy, and a glutton as well, and as cold as the ice she wields, some might say, as stereotypical that might be. Not her fault, really. On average she only gets about two hours of sleep every twenty four hours, at least that's her excuse. She generally keeps to herself most of the time, and only interacts minimally with other people, and any time someone does she will simply stare at them blankly before promptly telling them to get lost in the rudest manner she can possibly muster. One thing to note, is that Eirwen likes money, and definitely loves making a quick buck and using whatever means she possibly can to get the most money she can out of a deal. This isn't so obvious when she's tired, since she won't go out of her way to do such things...but well, on the off chance you can find her when she's not suffering from two hours of sleep... Eirwen, when she has enough rest is usually much more active and less apathetic towards events. In fact, she's somewhat loud and rather...overbearing. Often times a confident, somewhat arrogant smirk is displayed on her features. She's still a bit of a sarcastic grump, but she's much less...dark about it. She can't stand warm weather, loves the quiet and doesn't like loud noises. Bio: Eirwen's story would begin with her family. The legend in her household states that at sometime in the past, they traveled from a land far to the north that was overcome with an endless winter and were fleeing from some terrible beast. The legends states one of her ancestors didn't make it, and the other was forced to bear the children of the beast, and sometime later gave birth to twins - the first of the Soyala's. Of course, that's all ancient history and whether it's true or not is lost to the annals of history. Today, the Soyala's are respected nobles and well known mages. Quite a few in history have held positions on the council, though this generation of them do not seem to keen on helping with Politics. She's had a rather spoiled and pampered life. The Soyala's are a rather...extravagant Noble house, after all. Most of them have a propensity for the finer things in life, and will do quite a lot to get it. That said, they are also quite hard works and go after what they want with an almost unstoppable force. Eirwen is no different, if she finds something she does in fact, want. Eirwen had an easy life of pampering growing up. She had it easy. Money from her fathers business, reasonably intelligent and fairly skilled at magic. She was given most things she wanted, though one thing constantly haunted the girl - her almost incurable seeming insomnia. Neither magic nor alchemy seemed to be able to cure it, and though it didn't seem to be fatal or hazardous as long as the girl didn't overexert herself often, it was still more than a little annoyance, but she dealt with it and attended classes at the academy regardless, secretly hoping for a way to cure it somewhere, though her efforts proved more or less in vain. Then, she heard about this expedition from her parents and the promised rewards of fame, fortune, and power. Perhaps even power to make her and her family the ruling people of Themis. The whole family - her father, mother, older brother and sister, and her were all in agreement. She'd go and retrieve this artifact, and help bring it back. Abilities/Skills/Magic: Air Manipulation - Eirwen is versed in two different forms of magic. First, is the ability to manipulate the winds and air currents. She is fairly skilled at using this ability of hers, though it's not her main method of fighting. More or less, you'll get blasted with a strong gust of wind. Cryomancy - This, this is her most skilled art in regards to magic. She is able to form ice almost out of nothing, and effectively use it as a weapon. While she's not skilled at using it at close range, she is definitely adept at using it to freeze the very soul out of her enemies and opponents. Inhuman Ancestry: Eirwen's family is descended from beasts that live far to the wilderness in the north. At least, her families legends state as such. Most of the time, this isn't really that evident in their every day lives. However...on rare occasions, a child is born with...something else. Eirwen is one of those unlucky few to be blessed with that something. You've heard legends of werewolves, right? Well...this is much, much, worse. Have you seen any funny looking dirt around here?~" Name: Amelia Xylander "100% Human female. Unfortunately." Gender: Female "Thirty! That's still young, compared to the stones used to build Themis!" Age: 30 "Ahh...I wish I could be made of stone. Alas, such wishes will never come true. For I am a squishy little human." Race: Human "I've been told I'm quite attractive. I don't understand the beauty standards of humans...Something rough, hewn, jagged and hard is attractive! Not these flabby sticks we call arms!" Appearance: Standing around five foot six, Amelia isn't physically impressive. Well, she's not physically intimidating anyways. Physically attractive? Most men and even some women would say 'yes plz'. Amelia appears to take great care with her appearance, or at least she has aged well. She has a head of long dark colored hair that falls down past her shoulders. Her skin has a healthy tan to it, from days constantly spent outside under the sun and out in the fields. Her body and clothes usually have small smudges of dirt on them, though otherwise her appearance is mostly clean. She has bright ruby colored eyes, that usually are focused on the ground beneath her feet or the largest stone she can find. As far as clothing goes...if it wasn't considered indecent not to ware them, she might not wear any at all. They're just going to get dirty anyways and washing them just takes up time. That said, she does fancy herself a scholar so she does dress somewhat elegantly. A light lavender colored jacket sits on her shoulders, with a long black dress under it. She wears comfortable, but durable boots that make walking easy and mostly comfortable. "Scholar, Lover of Rocks, part time alchemist, lover of rocks...I said that twice, didn't I?" Personality: Calling Amelia...eccentric, would be an understatement. First, she is incredibly intelligent. That much is evident from the way she speaks, often using words most of the lower classes probably wouldn't be able to have the education to know the meaning of. She doesn't use them because she's trying to make them feel unintelligent or anything like that, rather she has a difficult time speaking in layman terms sometimes. Especially when it comes to geology and rocks. She will go on forever about a specific type of rock, what it's made of and everything from how old it possibly is to how it got there and everything in between. Still, she generally is fairly friendly and upbeat, and remains positive in most situations. Often times a wide smile graces her features. She has a healthy curiosity of most everything academic and is fluent in reading and writing a variety of ancient scripts, along with an actually quite detailed history of Themis she has pieced together with the help of a friend. Oh. And she loves rocks. That's the major thing someone has to remember with her. She loves any jewels, gems, crystals, even just plain old gravel. She will risk her life to save a pebble from getting stepped on rather than possibly saving the life of a fellow human. If asked with why she likes rocks, she will reply as such: "Golems are ten times more reliable than humans and would never let someone down! ....plus, they never tired. Even at night! And...they're so big too. Biggest ones I've ever seen... ... *ahem* I'm sorry, where were we? I got a little...sidetracked!~" "So. There was a party at the castle one evening. I don't usually drink because my tolerance for the stuff is zero, but everyone was drinking so I thought a sip would be fine! Well, turns out I drunkenly kissed the queen in front of everyone. Of course, the only event I remember from that night is that and waking up upside down dangling from the rafters of the stables with a rather shiny jewel in my possession. I still don't know how that happened." Bio: Amelia has led a rather simple life. Born a commoner, she never had much money growing up and spent most of her time teaching herself to read and write, preferring books and knowledge over socializing and magic like the other kids her age were always going on about. She grew up more or less by herself, spending her days reading and studying and being bullied for being different among the other kids who already were practicing magic her age. Some might have considered her lonely, but to her? She found rocks, books, and scholarly pursuits ten times more interesting than humans. Humans were so simple, after all. Easy to understand, and if she were to sum it up...most weren't exactly nice people, though her experience with being bullied every now and then might have something to do with it. She didn't receive an education from the academy, as she had no interest in magical pursuits. Instead, she was one of the rare few that took a purely scholarly interest in histories, geography, and other things not relating to magic. Of course, this earned her the scorn of others quite early in life. After all, who cared about that sort of things? At least, that was the mentality of most of the people of Themis. Magic. Studying magic. That's all they cared about. it was all so boring. They had already researched so much into magic she'd be surprised if they didn't all just suddenly turn into puffs of mana or something. After awhile, she moved out of Themis, taking up residence some distance away where she could study and conduct her scholarly pursuits among just the rocks she considered friends. When she heard about this little venture the crown was organizing? Well, KNOWLEDGE! She couldn't just say no, and while she wasn't exactly popular among nobles and the mages, it was well known she was one of the go-to people for an extensive lesson in history, identifying some unknown object and anything else that isn't related to magic. They didn't even have to ask! She said yes before they even could. Abilities/Skills/Magic: Scholarly Knowledge: Despite her eccentricity, Amelia is quite intelligent about a number of topics aside from her chosen field of interest. The knowledge in her head is a force to be reckoned with if she puts it to good use. Dabbler in Alchemy: She has dabbled in alchemy, occasionally, and is quite knowledgeable about quite a few plants as well and which ones could possibly make a few concoctions and ailment relieving items, though she's not going to be winning any awards here. Minor Earth Magic: While she's no expert mage, she does have some ability to simply manipulate rocks to some degree. She mostly uses this to aid in her geological pursuits. 'Feel' the rocks. 'See them' as she says. After all, stones tell a story and if one listens hard enough, one can hear. Aside from this, she can probably use it for some small combat purposes, but she is hesitant to fight anything.
