Leval Lamrue
[@Ojo chan 42] ''That was amazing.'' Ceres complimented him as he sat down. Leval put a hand to the back of his, rubbing bashfully in please embarrassment. Leval looked up towards Arkan, and saw him give Leval a small nod of acknowledgement. Leval turned his eyes downwards, but a large smile spread over his face. "Ah thank you- it wasn't anything spectacular... but thank you all the same." He turned his smiles towards her, and watched as she volunteered to go next. Earlier when Ceres had offered to help him fight against Sekhemi, Leval had been unsure whether her power to turn into ash would be really helpful. But now, he could clearly see that he had been entirely underestimating her. She moved with an elegant brutality in the fighting pits. She first moved swiftly like water, before turning and striking her foes with blows like iron. And then when it had seemed like she had been injured in the fight, she began utilizing the her powers. Leval had seen flame manipulation today, but this seemed more internal than anything. The fires burning inside of her giving her strength, speed, and an almost unnatural joy. However, before the fight could get too out of hand, her powers suddenly failed her and the scene changed to that of a woman, dressed all in black standing in a graveyard. Ceres, who had been so confidant before froze, staring up at the woman before frantically ending the simulation and exiting the training area. Leval caught a glimpse of raw, scarred hands under her gloves before she managed to hide them once again. Ceres avoided looking anyone in the eyes and Leval decided that not saying for now would be the wisest option. Leval did not want to say the wrong thing and make Ceres feel worse about the event. 'She looks like she had been through a lot as well. It seems a fairly common theme here. Is that just the life of a gifted?' [@Fenfeir] Leval was distracted from his reverie as Keith came over to speak to them. "You guys are really tough aren't ya all I've got is a hard painful time with things." Leval frowned at that- while pain was a useful indicator of damage. It seemed excessive that Keith's powers came with such a heavy drawback. 'Depending on how pain is manifested or registered, it shouldn't be too difficult of a task to be able to block that pain. But in order to sustain it... well that's a much more difficult task altogether.' Leval watched as Keith singed his hand on Ceres white hair, paid him a compliment, and encouraged Shela besides him. "Keith, tomorrow when we enter the training area, come talk to me alright? I need to think about something this evening before I discuss it any further with you." Leval turned away from Keith to watch the next volley of power demonstrations. Arkan remained silent and vigilant, carefully watching and considering each demonstration without a word. There were quite a number of students that went on the stage, and while all of the demonstrations were impressive only four more in particular caught his eye: Dante, Kong, Argentina, and Irvine. [@DragonKingUk] [@Maria 127] [@akirashadow] [@The One] First and foremost, an illusionists skill depended on his power to deceive others, while being aware of the truth at all times. If the illusionist ever got caught up in his own lies or illusions, then he was no longer worthy of the title. Leval could almost smell the lies coming off of Dante and caught the brief sleight of hand Dante used with his pocket. Leval had been studying sleight of hand tricks since he could hold a playing card. While Leval was uncertain of what Dante's true powers were, he still retained the negative first impression he had had upon first seeing him. Kong was a much different story all together, where Dante seemed elegant and casual, Kong seemed almost to be a force hellbent on smashing. What was most interesting to Leval, however, was the pole staff that Kong used. It extended out just like his own hook staff. Of course Leval had heard of the monkeys wielding extending staffs in stories and legends, but one wielded by a flaming gorilla was a new one. 'I wonder if it works in a similar fashion to my own weapon and if so how? And how could I get Kong to tell me more about it?' Again, Argentina was a study in contrast, her powers were actual very similar to Leval's rather than being able to depend on overt action, she too had to depend on subtler means. Leval found himself excited to train with her and see what sort of techniques she was utilizing. 'Earlier today when I felt that wave of calmness, was that her? If so, it was excellently done- I wouldn't have ever caught on.' And finally Irvine for the sheer gall he had in challenging Sekhemi once again, Leval let out a snort of appreciation. Arkan turned to them all and gave them a review of what they had done during the exams. Leval nodded when he got his, again agreeing with the majority while still having some reservations about accepting the entirety of what Arkan said. Then Arkan gave out room assignments and disappeared after they found the keys and maps inside their pockets just as he had said. He looked briefly at the map and immediately spotted a place that he wanted to visit. Leval raised an eyebrow over at Ceres, mouthing the word "Babysitters?" towards her, keeping quiet so as not to offend the children that sat with them. Leval looked out across the students, attempting to remember which one was Red. It had already been quite an exciting day and there had been a large amount of names to remember. He spotted her and called her over to himself and Shela. "Hey there both of you, it looks like we are all going to be roommates together, we seem to be the only 3 person group as well! Already coming out on top! Leval smiled at the pair of them before continuing. "I am going to go out and explore for a little while but I will be back home by 6:15 in order to make some dinner for us to share. Maybe we can even invite some of the other new students to join us" Leval stood up and began walking towards the door, calling out over his shoulder. "Remember 6:15! It's free home=cooked food!" Leval exited the school and began to explore the grounds a little. While he had the map, it was still important that he got familiar with the surrounding area. The island the campus was on seemed quite large, the edges of it calling out for further investigation, yet Leval kept his distance. He had plenty of time to explore the rest of the island, but at the moment there was only one thing on his mind. Leval walked around a building and saw it in the distance. A maze! Leval raced towards it grinning like a fool. "A real life actual hedge maze! I've always wanted to go inside on of these!" Leval had a long standing love of puzzles, tricks, false turns, and traps all of which appealed to his nature. Still smiling, he put his left hand against the wall of the maze and began heading down the neatly trimmed hedge corridors, almost enraptured by the challenge.
