[@ArenaSnow] I'm actually pretty interested but know nothing about Battletech besides this: How much would I need to know about the video game and things like Gameranger & Mechwarrior 4? Would I need a decent online connection?
Those urbies... ^.^ Anyways, good questions. I'll start with a little on battletech: Not going to lie, there's tons and tons of lore made on it since the 80's in many forms and more than what is covered on the ultra-massive Sarna website. That said, I intend to have this set up to be semi-fit to the universe... so same context, mechs, etc, but conventions and the like of MW4 and playing it loose on the lore. So in short, don't worry much about that element. Video game wise the expertise you need is to be able to open files, press a few buttons to make lumbering machines move around and be able to shoot at big objects. That's pretty much it you need on gameplay knowledge and I'm 100% willing to work with ya for practice to get the gist of the game. If we need to we can always make the roleplay start off in the context of training or recruit pilots. Gameranger is pretty simple; install, possibly filter games so you don't have to drag the scrollbar all the way to the approximate middle of the game list, double click on the name (we can get into what that will be later) and it's pretty simple from there. Online connection does not have to be great by any means, mine is rather meh. It's not a game and GR isn't a service that suffers from issues connection wise. If your internet is pretty bad we can work around it, the biggest concession I can see us making is trying to cut down mech speeds to reduce rubberbanding, which shouldn't be much of an issue in the first place.
