Was thinking something like that recently, perhaps someone had been the cause of forcing that guy to become a host, for several other people? The original cause is that someone wanted to create a powerful magic weapon, on a Strategic-level, by combining the magic of several people. The guy got roped in by being an ordinary person at the wrong place at the wrong time?

Although kicks cliche to the side, he has zero interest in being some kind of hero XD!
