I'm pretty cynical when it comes to the military's handling of mental health. A lot of my friends suffer from depression and it doesn't appear that the chain of command does a whole lot. They say they do but they don't feel like it. There's a lingering suspicion that reporting it just fucks your career over so it's better to just hide it and avoid getting dicked over for promotion. I personally have had some issues in the past (and no, not everything is PTSD, dammit) and I really just got over them myself. I didn't really want to talk to the official programs. Don't even get me started on the VA.
