Emma looked around before she descended into the darkness. It was clear: The city had fallen. Despite the walls, despite the guns, despite everything, it looked like eventually everything did end. She released the boy's hand, turning to him. "You can come with us if you want... but... well, I was going to say it'll probably be dangerous, but it looks like we're in the middle of a whole lot of danger. I'll try my best to get you to safety and then..." She looked at they boy. He was obviously homeless, bandaged, bruised, dirty. He didn't have parents to go back to, at least Emma didn't think so. "Well, you can decide what to do." She nodded at him, turning to the manhole cover, descending into the depths of the sewers. Unsurprisingly it stank. Her face scrunched. She wasn't exactly use to conditions like this. She stepped down into the muck, knee deep in filth. "Gross." She sighed. Why can't our escape route be a nice hospitable underground anything-but-a-sewer, huh? As for Lily's question, Emma shook her head. She was wracked with guilt over losing Meryn. She took a moment to think it over. She saw Meryn a lot, but only in her shop, and it wasn't exactly like she could ask a mute girl where she liked to hang out. "If she got lost... I doubt she'd stay in one place, she'd probably take to the roofs, get on the move. At least that's my best guess." Emma looked down at the filth they were walking in. "Y'know, this is a real shitty situation... figuratively and literally." Emma followed Lily to the light. "Although I don't know how we're going to find her. The streets are chaos and if those things find us they'll kill us. We need a plan- even if we get outside of the city it's not like we'll be much safer, there's just as many of them outside as there are in. Maybe there's somewhere inside that's still holding out?"
