After she'd finished her work on Jessica and had released her Amelia remembered Rey bringing up the song, Time in a bottle and it took her back to the 1970s. She'd never met Jim Croce because like many poets he'd died so young.

Croce wrote the lyrics after his wife Ingrid told him she was pregnant with his son, Adrian and they say sang it to her on a cold December day in 1970. 

It was a simple song that dealt with mortality and how there never seemed to be enough and for most a poignant subject but for Evergreen it held a different meaning. For her time was a reminder of her curse and it's limit confined to the short lives of those she loved.
