They are more or less hazy now, with a look of being glossed over. She has long black hair that reaches her middle back and also extends over her left shoulder. Typically speaking, Soleil has very focused features, she is constantly listening to sounds in her area, smelling scents and touching different things around her. She stands at a meager five foot three and has a similar frame, save for her rather muscular thighs and calves. She has a noticeably pointed relaxed look on her face when she is at all aware of her surroundings or when she has her headphones on. She has a look of nirvana when cooking or playing music. Her voice is a soft and quiet one, rarely breaking through the mess of everyday life. Soleil's gait in an unconfident one, given that she doesn't know if she's about to walk into someone or something. This is somewhat rectified by her guiding pole, but even with it she is nervous about hitting others with it. She is non-confrontational expect when she is extremely comfortable with a given person or situation, in which case she is rather snarky and even a little mean, but only in the kindest ways.
Personality
Soleil is a rather quiet girl, rarely mincing words on conversation. She has been known to grow quite fond of others it’s just that she shows her fondness in less talkative ways. Where one person may compliment someone, Soleil would rather just hug them. Where someone else may ask someone to hang out, Soleil doesn’t ask she just follows that person around. Because of Soleil’s inability to see at all she can often be found leaning on someone, holding someone’s hand or with her guide cane. Soleil is often surprisingly well dressed given her lack of sight, this is more or less muscle memory and trial and error as she was not blind her entire life, thusly she does have some notion of where things belong both on her body and otherwise. Soleil is a gifted pianist, violinist and cello player as she has trained all of her life. While her ability in music has suffered since losing her vision, she is still able to play pieces that she learns, learning is just slowed by her inability to read sheet music as she plays. She must start and stop in order to read sheet music when she is learning a piece which she finds incredibly frustrating. Soleil has become an incredibly fast reader in the time that she has learned braille able to read complete novels in fairly any time at all. Often times Soleil can be found wearing a school uniform, which consists of a dress shirt, tie, skirt, and larger jumper that she wears overtop. However, commonly she is found in a large over-the-shoulder sweater and a pair of jeans. This is what she wears in most casual events. Soleil is nearly never found without her large, over-the-ear headphones as well. While many think this is a poor idea as she is already down one sense, she prefers being in a state of not relying on anything and through her headphones she can surround herself in sound in a way that she believes is impossible for someone with eyesight. It is one of the things she is truly passionate about. Soleil is also very passionate about cooking. While this too has gotten difficult now that she is blind, her sense of taste is very much still working as intended. As such Soleil has been working on becoming the best chef she can be, her area of expertise is mostly with cooking meats and pastas. She is also a fine connoisseur of wines and beers – though she isn’t technically allowed to drink in the United States. She has her ways, no one can truly say no to the blind girl. Soleil also has some level of snarkiness to her. Whenever someone asks her questions that could be regarded as rather stupid – especially something like: ‘how do I look’, she gets rather mouthy. This is in stark contrast with her usual quiet demeanor and has been known to be taken seriously – even though she is typically joking. She also attempts to use her blindness to her advantage in social situations, whenever she is attempting to make a joke she uses her own disadvantages to make light of a certain situation. This has been somewhat known as her own brand of humour, though some do find it kind of uncomfortable, they typically open up to it after a while.
History
The phrase: ‘don’t jinx it’ has always been a strange one. As if talking about one’s good fortune too much could somehow ruin it, whatever cosmic force had gifted them could bring them right back down. Soleil was always talked about in her parents’ circles. The wonderful musician, Soleil. Little Soleil with the beautiful eyes. That did not last however, when Soleil turned eight years old she was given cataracts for her birthday, a book on braille was belated but also came that year. She eventually began to live her life again, relearning to play the instruments she had already been using sight to perform with. She also began to learn braille at an incredible rate, however she was no longer talked about in her parents circle save for quick apologetic asides when negative emotions ran high. For while Soleil mostly looked the same save for a cloudier iris, she was not ‘little Soleil with the beautiful eyes anymore.’ She had become ‘that poor little girl.’ Because of this, Soleil became quieter, more apologetic and more focused on her own advancement as a musician, eventually as a chef, a student and those three things singularly. She didn’t have much time for friends or even family and spent almost every night in her own company. Soleil made her way through High School as many blind kids do. Under the feeling that she was consistently being ridiculed. However, what she couldn’t see couldn’t hurt her and she even ‘accidentally’ bumped into and knocked over a few choice individuals from time to time. However as High school came to an inevitable close she decided it’d be in her best interest to pursue either music or cooking through a college diploma. After many nights worth of debate with herself and her parents she eventually settled on music – seeing as she need not rely on others with her music, simply she could perform at her own pace and eventually perhaps teach the art form to others. As it were, the financial situation in the Petit family was actually quite complicated. Her parents earned a modest income however Soleil wasn’t able to comfortably take a job and as such rarely had the money to cover rent and other such things. As such she began to sign up for some on-campus experiments. Nothing crazy, but stuff like a sleep study for some financial compensation, or perhaps a ‘take this pill get rent’ kind of study. That’s where we find Soleil. With a pill sliding down her throat and her world about to change.
Chosen Pill Color:
She’s blind, she kind of just grabbed one if we’re being honest.
Other:
Her favourite genre of music is classical.
