] If you find the use of your character as a describing factor unfair, i'll simply change it to some nondescript variant.
Before entering the carriage Lana looked to her left and saw a column of mercenaries marching up the road and passing the carriage, she had heard of them, the Steel fist they were called. A loud and rough bunch, although right now they looked unexpectedly sharp and marched with perfect unison. The Steel Fist was on the march, sporadic columns were seen all over the city while they converged one by one to a large parade leaving the city along one of its main streets, incidentally the same one they arrived on. But this time they did not smile, they did not wear parade dress. Their gait and posture was completely different, where the first time they had arrived they looked happy and sloppy, they now looked concentrated and straight backed. Barely a single footfall was out of sync, drums sounded the rhythm and the sound was frankly terrifying to some of the citizens whom quickly got out of the way, or simply stayed inside. The entire feel was different, no happy songs, no laughs or jeers. Dead silence except for the beating drums, the synchronized footfalls and the odd shouted order followed by a hornblow to make sure the columns were moving properly and converge correctly. Their orders were simple, the Steel Fist was to set up a temporary camp outside Nyhem and when all the men had left the city the fist would march for the east. Claus had conveyed his orders to his lieutenants while he himself took care of some final business, mostly boring things like getting hold of supplies and equipment, which miss Nikos had unexpectedly but expertly begun performing with little to no reasons to complain, actually outperforming the lieutenant who usually were in charge of it. Which Claus enjoyed greatly. But one task he had sent for the young lady to perform with him personally. -"You sent for me Claus." Katrina said to catch his attention, he simply turned to her with a stern face. -"When you address me during work you will do so with either 'sir' or 'captain', is that understood!?" Claus boomed out, the young girl was taken aback but regained her posture with a salute. -"Sorry sir, yes sir, aye captain!" She nervously let out, but she was relieved to see her response had made Claus do one of his classic smirks before speaking. -"At ease, but proper manners to commanding officers is one of the cornerstones of this company, remember that. Regardless, i sent for you to inform me on a matter a blacksmith should have a great deal of insight in." Katrina a bit confusedly asked. -"Sir? What are you referring to?" She was not certain of what he meant. -"I need to give a gift to our new king that will be crowned soon, and seeing how war and fighting is what i do best i thought something along those lines would be fitting." Claus spoke clearly before carrying on. -"I need a highly proficient weaponsmith, whom works fast and makes great quality weapons. I do not go to our usual provider since they only make bulk goods and that stuff, frankly isn't good enough for blue-bloods." Katrina was going to speak when Claus cut her off. -"Oh, and don't count yourself, you are too busy running the supplies operations, especially since when i noticed you do that part better than me." Katrina was first annoyed but it turned into a blush when Claus mentioned her work. -"Umm.. thank you.... SIR! Yes sir!" She hadn't fully gotten into the proper ways of a military force yet. Claus simply smirked. -"Well, i know a really good place, known as the best in town, i'll show the way!" Miss Nikos joyfully began showing the way. From the foundry, Claus ordered a weapon to be presented to the king upon his coronation, as a gift from the captain of the Steel Fist. A lightweight all steel flanged mace with a twist below its head, hollow and kinda small compared to the usual maces of the steel fist or any other military forces. The handle covered in white leather with dark brown cords in cross patterns. The weapon polished to a mirror shine and adorned with tasteful inlays of latten engraved with flowers and a few snakes on the latten leading up to the flanges upon the head. The flanges themselves with small crowns as holes in them to reduce weight further. And atop its head, an inch long sharp spike. Claus also ordered for the maker of the weapon to present it to the new king with a simple speech, fully making it a gift befit nobility. After Claus had made the order, Katrina however left a small modification. She added a ring mount on the handle where a braided leather hoop would sit for fastening it to any belt. She also made sure that she got a specially made braid made in time before the steel fist left the city. She made it in a way that was unmistakably hers and made sure it was added to the gift. After paying for this order he left for the camp outside where he ordered a meeting with his lieutenants. A sturdy stool was prepared for Claus to sit in and a few blankets were prepared for the lieutenants to sit upon. -"So, how many men decided to stay this time?" Claus asked calmly. -"About fifty sir, so fewer than expected, but about the same amount have decided to join the steel fist as well." The sturdy bearded man answered. -"Very good. Seems like there's a few heads to bust in for me later." Claus told with a smirk, while there was a pair of scoffs, the mood was a bit tense. -"Sir... with respect. Why are we leaving so soon? Especially when you told us you would consider any offers extra?" There was a couple of agreeing nods and some murmurs. It was evident this was something most of them wondered. -"Right, you are right. I was a bit rash with this decision, but the reasoning is sound! You see, we will be paid... a lot, frankly a massive amount... of 130 gold a month!" The doubts turned to surprise and a literal grin on one of the men's faces followed by a few nods. -"Very well captain, can't argue your decision there." Roogel agreed. -"Although i haven't gone blind with gold fever, even if it looks like it. If at any point the concord cannot pay us, we're out! Remember the Tulza's!" Claus spoke while holding a clenched fist in front of him, his lieutenants repeated 'Remember the tulza's' and the hand motion in sync. -"Fine by me." Ashala blurted out a bit louder than she anticipated. -"Before two days have passed we will have marched for the nearest harbours with proper navy presence, there we shall sail for Telmarion to meet up with Orland Tuania who will babysit us while we defend their sorry asses." Claus informed, a scoff or two was heard at the last part of the sentence. -"After the main force have converged apart from the scouts, we will move to the north to make up some proper strategies, i have already began studying some maps of the area, but i can't get a proper feel of the tactical possibilities without sending out our own scouts in the area." The captain informed as he crossed his legs. The rest of the meeting was mostly specific details of which forces would travel to Telmarion first, since the navy could not afford to transport the entire force in a single go. Claus decided to make sure he was on Telmarian soil as soon as possible with his scouts so they could move ahead in advance to maximise the tactical knowledge of the northern areas. And with that Nyhem was within the next few days finally rid of the Steel Fist plaguing its streets and taverns.
