Which also answers part two of the question; It was intentional on [i]my[/i] part, not so much on Alistair. Alistair is trying to process people and events at an incredible rate, which means that, unfortunately, not everything registers immediately. It's a bit like suddenly talking to and hearing introductions from an entire group at once; You'll hear all of it, but until things slow down long enough for you to catch a breath, you won't be able to process all of it.
