That and Ratchet has shields that surrounds his body based on ammo and if he's allowed his best armor, it cuts a good portion of damage. If Jak used his nuke weapon, I would say it would kill the shield and probably a portion of health. But not kill him.

But, without Clank, Ratchet can't beat Jak because of Jak's time manipulation. clank also gives Ratchet better mobility, Ratchet's already pretty agile and good at dodging, Clank makes it better though (Jesus all that bob and weaving)

A reason why every time Ratchet and Clank separate and you have to play Ratchet, I remember going 'FUCK I MISS CLANK'

While Jak... Well I think I remember having to use his roll jump to dodge most things. Which isn't quite as good compared to Ratchet's dodging ability. But that might be more comparing game mechanics rather then their own abilities.
