Obviously, if you go with a Robin that's not directly tied to the Bat-family, you have to then deal with their acceptance or denial, and of course, you'd have to deal with Bruce if he ever shows up in the game. (Which I'm, honestly, 50/50 split on at this point.) I would think that kinda drama would be fun writing, but that's me. ^_^
You're not the only one who thinks it'd be fun, really. Since, um...

Name: Kuroko Rayne
Age: 14
Alias: "The All New, All Different Robin!"
Appearance: A half-Japanese teenage girl with the build of a gymnast. She's not exactly tall and has a slim frame, and she accents her short, black hair with a dyed red streak. During the day she tends to dress in a tomboyish fashion, mostly wearing shorts and t-shirts. As her version of Robin, she wears a colourful leotard of red, green and yellow, alongside a similarly coloured cape and thighhigh boots. Her gloves have fins sticking out of them for deflecting knives and the like, and around her waist and thighs she wears rudimentary "utility belts", although obviously they're nowhere near as extensive in terms of utility as Batman's own belt. In an effort to conceal her identity, she wears a simple domino mask.
Skills/Abilities: Kuroko is a skilled gymnast, and in her civilian identity will often (rather truthfully) boast about being the best on the school team; whilst she's obviously not superhuman, she's still able to pull off feats of agility most regular people can only dream of. Whilst this means her fighting style mostly consists of tumbles, leaps and dives, she actually has a strong grounding in unarmed combat, having been taught martial arts from a young age; she's not world class or anything but she can still hold her own in a fight despite her age. In imitation of the other Robins (and, naturally, Batman), she wears a set of rudimentary utility belts; these include such things as a grappling hook, smoke pellets, pepper spray, itching powder and stink bombs. Her gloves have weighted knuckles to add additional force to her blows, and are finned to help her deflect knives and the like. Unlike the other, official Robins, she's not exactly a detective; whilst she can put two and two together when presented with the evidence, she doesn't think to go out of her way to look for leads and clues.
Weaknesses: Despite her enthusiasm, Kuroko is still new and inexperienced when it comes to costumed crimefighting. Really, she hasn't exactly thought this through all that well, and if she's not taken under the wing of a more experienced hero there's a rather good chance she's just going to get herself killed.

Kuroko has always been a fan of superheroes for as long as she can remember. It seemed like even the dark, gloomy city of Gotham could be brightened up by the existence of costumed crimefighters, even if the city's main defender was the grim, menacing Batman. Even if Gotham was a far darker place than Metropolis, home of her favourite hero Supergirl, it always seemed like with Batman, Robin, Batgirl and the like around things would get better. Maybe things had to get worse before they could get better, though, since despite having a relatively normal life for most of her childhood, tragedy struck her family around five years ago. It started off rather innocuously, really, with her father not showing up on time once work was over one day. He was a cop, and one of those in the GCPD who wasn't corrupt, so Kuroko and her mother assumed he'd just been really busy that night. But then the night rolled over into day, and there was still no word from him... Soon enough, they found out that he was dead, killed during one of the Joker's many schemes. It wasn't like it was an uncommon thing to happen in Gotham, really; Joker-related incident were probably one of the leading causes of death in the city after all, but... Really, even with that knowledge it still hurt. She and her mother grieved for some time, and even after Batman sent the psychotic clown back to Arkham they found no real comfort in the fact. Eventually, they managed to move on as best they could, but neither of them could really forget what had happened. So when it was announced that the Joker had died during his latest scheme, and that Batman had disappeared following this, Kuroko realized something: with the two most terrifying men in Gotham gone, there was little left that was going to hold back an upsurge in criminals taking advantage of the situation. Someone needed to do something about it, and... Well, she should've realized that someone else would, but she couldn't help it. Swinging into action with wild abandon, she quickly threw together a costume and decided to put her athletic skills to good use in holding back the tide of crime... And since she wasn't sure if there was currently an active Robin (and having been aware that there had been more than one Robin), she decided to take up the identity for herself. She really hasn't thought this through, but she's going to give it her all and do whatever she can to keep the city safe!

I know her being half-Japanese is kind of a minor, non-essential detail buuut I thought that since I was using Ame-Comi Robin as her appearance it was only fitting. XD Anyways, hope she looks okay. ^^;
