Doubt me if you dare it!" Career/Class: (Self-proclaimed)Archmage/Illusionist Weapons:

Folly: A large sabre that hangs in a sheath at his side, the blade is a deep black, and the hilt is inlaid with gold. The pommel looks like a cresent moon grasping a round red jewel between it's points. It is a high quality, well-forged blade, and it channels magic very well.
Magic: Marcus is an powerful and experienced Mage. He knows a wide variety of spells, from calling fire to making objects stick together. But his true talent lies in Illusionary magic. He is able to cast powerful illusions that can fool nearly every sense; sight, sound, taste, smell, and even touch. However, the illusions have no inherent substance so they cannot directly cause harm.
A pair of boot knives
A plain silver ring, worn on his right hand, enchanted to hold back a little kinetic energy every time it moves. Marcus can mentally trigger it, firing all the kinetic energy it has stored in a single blast. At full charge it could knock a full-grown cow over.
Physical Description: Tall lean and pale-skinned with keen intelligent eyes, it is immediately obvious that he is possed of a scholarly disposition. His face is clean shaven and youngish, he looks to be in his mid-twenties, but something in his eyes reveal his true age to those who look. His eye, with their gold-colored irises, his light gray hair and ears that taper to a slight points are indicators of his heritage as a half-elf. For his day to day clothing, he dresses rather flamboyantly and richly, with quality cloth, gold embroidery and even small gemstones. His most iconic piece of clothing is a large mantle, trimmed in gold, solid black on the outside and rich purple on the inside. He wears it over a dark orange tunic that he wears open at the front to reveal a beige shirt with black designs. He also wears grey trousers tucked into a pair of black laced up riding boots. On his hands are a pair of long, shiny black gloves that reach up to his elbow. All of his clothing is fastidiously kept tidy and clean. Completing his ensemble are a pair of scholarly glasses on his face that can be magicaly affixed so as to not be knocked off. Armor: The mantle that he wears is inscribed with layers of magic wards, making the unassuming cloth tougher then dwarven steel. It provides great protection against cutting, piercing, extreme heat and cold, and magic. It provides only moderate protection against kinetic energy so blunt force is the best way to injure him. The physical protection only extends as far as the cloth, but the magical protection extends from head to toe. Equipment/Other:

Money/Supplies for traveling (food, tent, water, ect)
A collection of tomes on various subjects, from magic to cooking
Lockpocks, just incase the knowledge he seeks is in the hands of people who are not the sharing type.
Glasses case, with a spare pair of glasses inside.
Notepad and a travel set of quills and ink.
Varied articles that may or may not be magical (he is stil trying to find out) including a perfectly spherical smooth wood ball, a small, plain-seeming rock that casts an eerily twisted shadow, and some kind of thing that he was given a long time ago and has been trying to get rid of since. No matter what he does with it, he always finds it again. What it is is unclear, when you look at it you can't quite make it out, and when you look away you forget what it looks like.
A "puzzle box" given to him by a dwarf he once did a favor for. It supposedly has something interesting inside, if anyone can open it. It is a perfect cube made out of wood with eye-twistingly intricatly carved pieces.
Mental Description/Personality: Marcus is a mysterious man with a cunning mind and a sly, scarcastic, dry wit. He acts friendly toward but he hides a cold, calculating, manipulative, personality behind that amiable mask. He is also an incurable flirt, quick with a compliment and flattery for the fairer sex. Wiether that is an act or a character characteristic of him is up for debate. He can be self-centered and egotistical, even worse, he often has a reason to be. Not much of a team player, he prefers to give orders rather then receive them. Goals: To master magic and gain immortality. He is a wizard to the core, always pursuing knowlage, especially of magic, no matter how forbidden it might be. He wants to learn of its origin, and to achieve mastery over it. To do this, he realize that it will take a long time and when he dies, his knowledge will die with him, so he seeks eternal life. Background/History:
Marcus's father was part of a traveling troupe. He was, ironically, a stage magician, who incorporated a touch of real magic to his tricks. The troupe was small, but well known, especially for going to out-of-the way places to perform. Thus one of their excursions brought them to the Kingdom of Leth'Arian and the Siver Elves that lived there. With some difficulty, the troupe leader convinced the elves to allow them passage to the island. There, they had a pleasant time, entertaining and laughing, and there, throught some extremely unlikely circumstances, Marcus's father met a beautiful, mysterious elvin woman. They enjoyed each other's company, so they kept meeting each other and spend longer and longer amounts of time together. When the trope bid goodbye to the city, they had one extra member. Unknowist to them, soon after they left, there was a massive outcry in the city. One of the younger elvin princesses had disappeared. The troupe made it to the mainland without incident, but they were stopped by elvin soldiers a few days out for questioning. They searched the troupe, but couldn't find her, because she had disguised herself with magic. And the troupe was allowed to go. Marcus's father and elvin woman predictably fell in love. They were never formaly married, but they came together anyway. For a year, they were happy and she was soon pregnant. However, the childbirth was compicated, and did not go well. She died giving birth to Marcus. After that, his father was never the same. He grew depressed, strove to drown his grief in drink. He never was a proper father to Marcus. Eventually his performances suffered so badly, that they were kicked from the troupe since he no longer made money, he was no longer worth anyting to them. Marcus's father slowly grew worse and worse, and one day, he just disappeared. Gone without a trace, leaving a young Marcus as an orphan on the streets of the dump of a random city. Fortunately, Marcus is the resourceful type, he had received rudimentary magic traing from his father, and at this time, his talent began to blossom and grow. He scraped together a harsh living, doing odd jobs, and more then once resorting to theft. His magic aided him in this, but it also drew the attention of a conclave of wizards who had their base in that city. The found him, took him in, and gave him to their order to train him. It was there his hunger for knowledge awakened. He was a keen student, absorbing and comprehending their teaching at an alarmingly fast rate. Some of them feared his growth, while others encouraged it. His meteoric rise was halted suddenly by a certain incident. The details are unknown, but the result was Marcus's immediate and perminate expulsion. Unperturbed, Marcus still hungered for knowlage, so he traveled the land researching magic. It was his passion and obsession. For the better part of a century, he wandered the land, learning and growing in skill with magic. He built himself something of a reputation, and people startd calling him the 'Sorcerer in Glasses' and he is wanted in several lands for stealing secret tomes of magic. Hearing rumors of powerful magic being found in the North, he traveled there seeking ever more knowledge.
