You're free to control the thieves however you'd like. There are 11 of them, most who are armed with either a knife or a club. They aren't real warriors though and rely on ganging up on a single target to win. That being said, their leader is a big and strong guy with a scimitar, though that's pretty much all he has going for him. He's still just a thug, just bigger, stronger, and a little bit better armed. None if them are wearing any type of armor.
