The light that shone under the door should have given them the head’s up, but rushed they went in anyway, and both agents winced back as they shoved their ways into a room of blinding light. No one could move. No one could do anything, not when their world has disappeared into a blank sheet of white that seemed as impenetrable as the darkest, deepest shades of black. No one but one being could move around in this state: the anomaly Cody O’Neil. ‘Cody!’ Agent Dioxide shouted, fearing that even his voice could not penetrate the ghastly light. What was he supposed to do? The damage he could do could be catastrophic – there was too much going on where they were now. Yet the moment Cody stopped, the motivators would not take a second to take second wind, and shoot both Cody and Gershwin down. Then suddenly, as faint as can be, a light feminine voice came through.
