That's actually the case with MANY US states - they'd be top notch countries on their own, but it's ruined by the fact that they are part of the US. I think you told me once that Cali was splitting in two - because the north was rich and had water, and the south was basically leeching off of them, right? It's the same with the US in general (and also the EU, which is why I said the EU isn't much better off.) :/ Sad state of affairs really. When it comes to countries, I'm not sure bigger is always better. We should probably keep our politics in the skype chat though.
