I'm inclined to agree with Asura on the whole Exalt and Grima thing. As for time travel with Future Grima, it's never stated how many of the outrealms there are, and thus how many timelines, so there could be one where he lives and doesn't go back in time to Chrom's era, which was a fatal mistake for him.
