He was an extremely proud warrior who had never been defeated in single combat until his defeat and death by David. As a Berserker, he cannot yell insults at his enemies as he did in life, but he still enjoys a fight and can occasionally be heard laughing during a particularly heated battle. History: (Putting this here because I’m kind of blending the Biblical and Talmudic versions of his story) Goliath was the son of Orpah (who, incidentally, was the sister-in-law of David’s grandmother Ruth). He had approximately one hundred fathers. He fought in the Philistine army and was the one to steal the Ark of the Covenant from Israel and place it in a temple of Dagon. He is most famous, however, for his defeat and death. Goliath was with the Philistine army when they faced the army of Israel at the Valley of Elah. Each morning and evening, he would bellow insults at his enemies and challenge them to send forth a champion to fight him in single combat. The Israelites, including Saul, their king, were too intimidated by his size to fight him. The one to take his challenge was David, the king’s shield-bearer (and future king of Israel). David faced Goliath with naught but a sling and five stones. The first four stones missed, but the last hit him in the head, knocking him down. David took the giant’s sword and cut off his head with it, killing him and settling the battle in Israel’s favor. Weapon: Goliath is summoned in a full set of Old Testament-era armor. He has a shield on one arm and holds his sword in the other. Parameters: Strength: B (?) Personal Skills: Champion of Dagon Rank C: When Goliath died, he was found to have an image of the god Dagon on his heart. It is unknown if Dagon was one of his fathers, but the god did serve as a patron of sorts to him. This skill gives Goliath protection from any weapons or effects originating from a Canaanite deity, reducing damage by C rank. Natural Body Rank D: Goliath’s naturally large and brawny body makes him perfectly suited to the life of a warrior. Single Combat Rank C: When in combat with a single opponent, such as in the enclosure created by his Noble Phantasm, Endurance and Agility are increased one rank. When fighting multiple opponents at once, he suffers penalties to these stats. Noble Phantasm: Name: Challenge of Elah Title: The Taunt that Cowed an Army Rank: B NP Type: Anti-Mind Range: 1-50 Maximum Number of Targets: 500 Description: When Goliath taunted his enemies, even kings and hardened warriors would hide in fear. Only God’s chosen was able to face him undaunted. Goliath taunts (or rather laughs at) his enemies, manifesting an aura around him (range mentioned above) that causes anyone with a Mental Interference Protection below B rank to feel immense terror. For the purpose of allowing fellow Heroic Spirits a one on one match, a High Thaumaturgy Bounded Field that does not allow exit or entry until the battle has concluded is constructed, starting from where he touches the sword to the ground. Sealed under the effect of Mad Enhancement.
