The signal you traced was an active philotic link. It didn't detect when the remote sent a signal, but rather when it lost signal. Due to the near-instant travel of philotes, ADMIN lost its pacifist signal, and I know well that while you have enough command over vectors to block a signal, you had no opportunity to figure it out while it was happening and then replicate that same signal, accelerating it before the signal gap was detected, assuring the destruction of a universe. The button and the toss was simply a sleight of hand in order to assure that you would have no time to complete the task. Check and mate.
