The Royal Navy (as far as I know) can only use V/STOL aircraft on their current carriers due to their size (the Harrier, for example). It's the main reason they decided to go for the VTOL F-35 (lol) instead of the dedicated carrier model, I think.

EDIT: And if you look on the wiki, the Royal Navy is indeed the main customer of the Magnificent Lightning (export model).
