Exactly, and your reply shows precisely why.  I don't go on holiday, I go on vacation.  I eat cookies, not biscuits - except that I do eat biscuits, just not what you call biscuits.  Which brings up a question just for my curiosity, what do you Brits call what we Americans call biscuits? :hmm
