When she mentioned about the mortality of her lovers and her lonesome for what she's going to deal with in the future and the fact that she'll remember him, it was like a "what if" statement when someone speaks of inevitability. His mind constantly worked on improvements of the world...life even... and well...last thing he wanted to do is cause more grief so...like always....Rey came up with another idea in his head.
