One week later, Siege Day, at the Queen’s Castle
The faerie general woke especially early. He had a looming feeling about today’s fight, but was doing his best to give Felix a chance. The human had proved himself strong and worthy in their duel and, since then, Cynbel and he had gotten close. Felix is like the son that Cynbel had always wanted - not that he didn’t want a daughter… Edana had wanted a daughter, and he a son, but they were supposed to have many children, at least, they had wanted to try. Thinking of Kiara brought a harried frown to his lips. He ran a hand over his face as he looked into the mirror. The man that stared back at him looked worried and forlorn. Where had the dragon taken her? Cynbel walked across the hall to her suite - It was as empty as she had left it, but it reminded him of her. He sat on the couch and stared up at the artwork on the walls. Kiara’s artistry was a unique trait, neither inherited from Edana, nor himself. It had been a full week since she’d left… She was so angry with him then, and for good reason. Cynbel still felt conflicted about the decision he had made. He would do whatever ever it took to make this up to her, she was his passion now, he realized that in her absence. He might have wanted a son, but he couldn’t imagine not having his daughter. Like Edana, she was a light - bright and precious in this cruel world. This was a long stretch without her. She had, of course, gone to The Academy, and spent a Solstice's worth of time in the human realm after graduation, but she had always messaged home then. Kiara felt lost now, and even Felix couldn’t help the way he felt about that; His words about what it is like to train under Sulleykaar brought him little comfort. With a sigh, the general stood up and went to go meet with his fellow commander, and friend. It was going to a be a long and, gods willing, fruitful day.
Children of Tiamat, Sometime in the Week of the Siege
They were gathered within the walls of their den, in silence they slept until the Dark Wyrm of Lightning made his appearance. ”Ugiiinnnn. I bring newsss of SSSSSSulleykaaarrrrr.” They opened their glowing eyes. A few narrowed, and the others impassive. “What do you bring, Kohlgan?” The phantom wyrm questioned. ”SSSSSulleykaaarrrr. He hass ssstarted training Kiarrraaa.” ”Training? What is the problem with that?” Dromoka questioned with what could pass for a raised brow for a dragon. ”He is at Eagle’s Peak…” Paraxthyon added as the others shot glances at him. “What is so significant about Eagle’s Peak?” Theais asked. ”It’s where we were born: Sulley, our brothers, sister, and I.” he stated. Ugin leaned in, knowing that there was more to this. Paraxthyon glanced at him and nodded. ”It’s where Sulleykaar and I learned Old Scale magic.” ”Old SSSScale? That hasss been dead for yearssss. It died with the death of Tiiiamaat and his followersss.” Kolhgan narrowed his eyes. Paraxthyon grinned. ”Then how do you explain the smoky white tail of magic that sprouted from his hand when he sent you into the back of the den.” That caused a violent response from Kohlgan as he charged Paraxthyon, only to stop in his tracks when Paraxthyon’s sapphire eyes glowed with the same white smoke that had trailed from Sulley’s hand earlier. ”Enough, you two! It matters not. That won’t help the Unseelie either way.” ” Our spies have been snuffed from the Court...” The response was answered with roars and “Gruth!” - Betrayer. The Ghost Wyrm let out a long hiss that silenced them. ”How do you know?” He asked with a hidden threat. ”They were supposed to send their findings that night. They told us that if a response was not to come by the following morning, to presume them dead.” They remained silent for a bit before Ugin spoke up again. ”Have you heard from any of our other spies within the kingdom of the Unseelie court?” Paraxthyon nodded. ”They plan on taking the stronghold not too far from them. The human under Sulleykaar thinks they can take it, despite its defenses” Ugin grinned an eerie grin. ”Is that so? Very well, then. If Sulleykaar thinks that he can continue to go against us despite past discipline, then we will take something else precious to him. Kolor!” The command came quickly as an Amber scaled dragon slowly made his way in. ”Yes, Ugin?” It asked with a solemn voice. ”You will travel to the fey and contact the Sons of Bahamut. I want the Unseelie court to have a special welcome when they take over the stronghold. A place by my side to who takes the head of that human, Felix Andersen” The amber dragon gave him a look of bewilderment. Ugin nodded. ”I-I can’t do-” ”Oh, you can, and you will. After what your son and wife attempted on me, you should be thankful that I hadn’t killed him instead of her. Though, with recent events, I feel that I should have done it the other way around. As for the rest of you-” Ugin eyed the rest of them as the amber dragon sulked out. ”Begin to prepare yourselves.” He commanded and, with that, the dragons exited the den. The Daughter of Tiamat, Shyvana, narrowed her eyes towards Ugin. ”I’m going out as well.” She said shortly. ”To where?” His eyes narrowed. ”Does the Son not trust me?” She turned to face him with a glare. He locked eyes as well for a long tense moment before he snorted. ”Go!” He ordered quickly, laying his head down. She simply squinted her eyes as she left the den. ’Sulleykaar, when I find you…’
Unseelie Queendom, Day of the Siege
He awoke by dawn, his head was swimming, but he was content. The human sat up and looked over to the figure resting next to him. When the light peeked into the room she rolled the other way, avoiding the morning rays. Soft eyes rested on her form as he patted her gently on the side. ”Wake up, sunshine.” Felix said softly before getting a mumbled “Another half hour.” Felix grinned as he rolled over to her and laid against her. ”Come on~ we got a long day, Kyla.” Another mumble followed by a growl. So, with a large grin, he sat up and jumped up and down on the bed, laughing. Kyla had enjoyed her night with him like she always did. She had fallen for him long ago, after Sulley had gotten her out of the grasp of the Children of Tiamat. For the longest time, she held her code highly, disregarding the ideas that Sulleykaar and Felix had, considering them ”Only for the Seelie Courts”. Over time, she had adopted them, but never forgot the old Code. However, at this point, love... everything, kind of went out the window with the 150lb alarm clock which, like most alarm clocks, got what was coming to them when they went off too early. Within an angry, tired instant, she whipped her hand against his body, and with an audible “oof!”, he was sent crashing against the wall. ”WHAT THE HELL DO YOU - Oh god, Felix! Are you ok!?” She gasped as she flew out of bed, her naked body rushing over to see the now stunned Commander. ”M-Morning - hng - gorgeous.” He said as he sat up, his face cringing slightly to the bruise. ”You asshole! You know how I am in the morning!” She scolded him as she scanned him for any major damage. ”Hey hey HEY! I’m fine will you - Will you look, please?” He brought his hand under her chin, bringing her eyes to his smiling face. ” We got a big day today.” He said with a sigh. Kyla nodded. The former Unseelie general understood what today represented. It would begin the turning point in this whole war. ”Have you told Garax about the plan?” ” Yeah he did. Now will you two sto-” Kyla gasped before growling. ”WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING IN HERE, GARAX!? HAVEN’T YOU EVER HEARD OF PRIVACY!?” Garax winced slightly at the screech. He gave her a disgusted look. ”When has an Unseelie ever cared about privacy?” He cocked an eyebrow with a smirk which warranted a sneer and blushed cheeks. ”I’m assuming Cynbel sent you?” He nodded. Felix looked over at his faerie lover and sighed. Best to start prepping for today’s siege. It took about an hour to fully get ready. His armour was on and his banner hung off of his spaulder. Kyla was next to him, a new ebony bow on her back and behind them Garax sporting two new axes: Thorin and Bane. Cynbel was in the war room, awaiting the rest of the Council. He was lightly armoured, wearing only robes that partially protected him from magic. Physical damage was not a concern. His great iron blade was sheathed at his hip and a gossamer black cape emblazoned with the Unseelie Coat of Arms hung from his shoulders. When Kyla, Felix, and Garax joined him and the others, he looked thoughtful, his eyes distant. The Queen was there, but Nyx was nowhere to be seen. The Crown Princess disappeared a lot, it came with the territory of being one of the Keepers. Cynbel looked up when the others filed into place. ”Are you ready?” he asked them all, but his eyes mostly focused on Felix. ”I cannot stress enough how dangerous of a fight this is. I need to know that I am fighting beside pillars of strength.” he looked to Kyla and Garax now, with respectful nods. Felix remained silent for a moment and looked down before sighing and looked back at him. His eyes steeled with determination and confidence. ”You don’t have pillars of strength, but instead, brothers in arms. If we die, we will go down having your back. I promise you that I will not let you down.” ”I am Unseelie through and through. Passion before Duty.” Kyla said. The two turned towards Garax, awaiting an answer. He looked at the three of them and snorted. ”Still don’t know why the fuck I have to be in the damn first wave…” Felix and Kyla both rolled their eyes. That was the best they would get from the Orc Warlord that symbolized “We have your back.” Cynbel shook his head like a disappointed father, silver locks tumbling over his shoulders. ”That’s not what I’m asking for.” there was a fierce seriousness in his moon-grey eyes, ”I want you all to live, so that we may fight again.” Garax, out of all of them showed an uncharacteristic side of him. ”Cynbel, Commander, whatever you want to be called...We want to live too. But that’s never a guarantee-- “ ”Make it one. This battle is the first of many, if your dragon friend spoke truth. We need all of living bodies we can keep.” The commander held his serious tone but smirked at the end. ”Now that that’s been said, let us march! War calls, don’t you hear her?” he tilted his head, as if listening to a siren’s song. Morrígan sat back in the oversized throne, her fingers deftly spinning an hourglass between her fingers. She looked particularly… dead... today. The ebony sand swished back and forth, back and forth, and her beady eyes focused intently on it, as if she was hypnotizing herself. Her blueish-grey lips were parted slightly, mouthing words in a silent conversation that no one else in the room was participating in. Her wraith-like fingers stopped in a quick, snapping motion, halting the hourglass as the last grains of sand fell to the bottom. ”Fetch me souls, Uaa.” she said eerily before turning her head to her War Council. With a subtle nod from those in the room, they turned face to the door and left. A creepy smile rested on the Dark Queen’s face.
