Edric was out of place in this group. He certainly hadn’t expected Lily and Carmen to be a thing. He might omit that from the phone call to his father. When Criston and Lily showed up, he went from an awkward conversation with a teacher to fourth-wheeling in an instant. He decided to just slip away unannounced. He stalked away from the group and out of the banquet hall. 

He eventually found his way outside and retrieved the cell-phone from his pocket. He looked through his contacts and found his father’s number. He took a deep breath and pressed [i]call[/i].

It rang thrice before Jason Karst picked up.

Edric heard his father drop the phone.
