[@Naril]
Name: His name is Mithias. The last name, or family name, of a 700 year old vampire doesn't really matter, you would think, but Mithias hasn't forgotten it. He knows it well, as he's kept it, and followed his mortal descendants for so many generations that he's lost track of pretty much all of them. Varmer, Farmer, Vonmar... It was all once Varomere. Gender: Male. Race/Species: Vampire. Mithias was turned, if that matters, and is most definitely dead, or 'undead' if you're a specialist. Mostly, he exists on paper under several fictitious names that generate income for him. He is established enough to live completely independently from the vampire court or any local coven, and he likes it that way. In present times, he generally avoids other vampires, mainly because they tend to be supremacist murderers, but also because he killed a few of them in his idiotic youth and immortal clanlords tend to hold grudges for extremely long periods of time. But enough of his own troubles. Age: Looks 27. Actually, 736. Mithias was turned in October, 1307... Appearance: I've never found the perfect image of Mithias Varomere, so I'll give a description. He is of Eastern European descent, modern west Germany, with what would have been the characteristic, light colored, unblemished skin, yet now it is an alabaster, nearly pure white. His hair has remained unchanged since he was living, albeit a shade blacker. It settles long, heavy, and straight down his back with wild, uneven ends. He was relatively tall for his time, which was an advantage as a knight, yet in today's society, it would be barely considered. Typically, he ventures at night, and certainly any fleeting pass through the public eye would involve a disguise, particularly of his unreal eyes. Mithias is well aware that his gaze is frightening. Stark yellow irises that shimmer a gold light are much more akin to a wolf or any wild animal than to a human. His hands are also slightly clawed, so he overall attracts unwanted attention. He's learned to deal with it. Personality: There is a long history that goes with this character, and there are specific reasons for why he is the way he is, so I hope you're prepared to read a while. I'll try to focus on the big points. So, there are two major aspects of Mithias' personality. First, he's big on family. For 30-some-odd generations, he has loved and secretly followed the descendants of his lone, mortal son, Damien. After being changed into a vampire, Mithias found himself unable to be a normal, human father and was deprived of living with his former wife and child. He stayed close and protected them, but the separation pained him deeply. He had given his life to save them, long story, then found himself separated across a chasm from them due to his newfound nature. Vampires weren't exactly beloved of god's creatures at the start of the Inquisition. Eventually, as timed passed and Mithias became comfortable with his role, his bloodline became more and more diluted. Eventually, he came to feel that all mortals and he bared some level of kindred. The next most important aspect of Mithias is that he fully believes in, and loathes, the corruption that comes from massive organization and concentrated power. He is well aware of the malevolent psychopath that lurks in all human hearts and has seen it firsthand in attempted genocides throughout history. This has made him a believer of balance and its secret enforcer. Calling back to the knightly code that shaped him, he believes in the necessity of order for proper function of justice, and that it must be applied to all. Quietly, he marvels at the natural balance of nature and seeks for ways to mimic it in this broken world of humans and supernaturals. Powers, Traits, and Abilities: As a vampire, Mithias will have heightened senses, speed, strength, and much less need to breathe. He pretty much has only one other supernatural gift, and that is a powerfully warded mind. He doesn't read minds or telepathically influence others, but instead, all his power is inverted upon itself as a defense. Nothing gets in. No psychic communication, reading, or manipulation of emotion or suggestion can influence him. He is like a walking psychic black void, but this is a wall he is constantly holding up. Otherwise, he is practiced at fighting, as you'd expect. His preferred weapons are a set of twin katana-style swords made with a titanium alloy... you don't slay vampires with bullets. Christian holy items, water, crosses, would burn and weaken him, but silver itself does nothing. Sometimes Jewish holy things affect him as well. Sunlight won't kill him, otherwise he'd be dead by now, but it's partially blinding and slows him down. Guns, explosives, poisons, etc. could potentially be in his arsenel. Oh, and there's one more thing he can do, but it isn't in his file. Mithias has a minor degree of psychic pyrokinesis. He's vampire-level good at playing the violin. Background: The following scene is for demonstration purposes only and is not cannon. All semblace to other players' actual characters is completely coincidental. Priest & Hawthorne Investigations, Seattle, WA. It was late afternoon on a Friday at the company headquarters, the sole and original building that stood downtown, clustered between several other businesses with mismatched and gaudy yellow brick that once "looked good" in the 1970's. The sky was dimming and rush hour was just beginning to let up outside. Macky Allister was just wrapping up some loose ends. He had stayed late, again, driven as ever to follow the trail of clues that he was certain would eventually lead to his wife's killer. Guilt grinded him from within as he thought about the daughter he had made wait again for him at home. The babysitter would be pissed. Just as he was picking up his coat, a tired looking secretary girl opened his door. "Macky, a mister Al Simmons is here to see you, says the traffic held him up. Do you want me to send him in?" Her brown hair was falling out of her ponytail, and she looked like she needed a weekend. Mack furrowed his brow. Al Simmons... That a-hole was supposed to call. He hadn't replied to any emails in the last 2 weeks, save the first one, and had been rudely evasive. Mack had half a mind to decline him. The nerve. Arriving at sunset on a Friday, unannounced. But that name, it rang a bell. It was one on the list Mack Allister had that was a potential lead to the vampires. Desperate curiosity bit him in the ass. "Alright fine. Send him in." The secretary visibly sighed and turned, closing the door behind her. Her footfalls faded softly in the background, noted only by his subconscious mind as he turned back to his desk, at which point Mack nearly jumped out of his skin with fright. There was a figure sitting in the guest chair in front of the desk. A handsome man, poised casually, one ankle on his knee as he waited expectantly in a grey suit. His hair was dark and tied back behind him. His skin color was nothing of note in the shoddy desk lamp light other than it was quite pale, but he had these impenetrable shades on. Like a knight's visor, they hid his eyes and masked his identity. It was rather condescending to look at him without him returning the favor. "Hello Mr. Allister." Mack collected himself. The thought that he was about to be eaten crossed his mind, and he mentally recalled the location of his arms. Still he replied with forced calm, "Mr Simmons I presume?" A third voice leapt out of the shadows behind Macky. "'Mister Simmons' indeed!" Both Macky and the mysterious guest shot a look in her direction. Ms. Shilah Gray stepped out from around the corner. She must have been passing by in the hall at just the right moment... The grey haired woman of indeterminate age continued commanding their attention, "More like, Mister Mithias Varomere." The vampire quizzically raised a single brow. Clearly he hadn't been at a loss for words in a long time. After an awkward silence, he admitted, "I... wasn't expecting that." He sighed, remaining in a relaxed position. "That is indeed my true name, madam, and so I assume you know even more than that much about me. If you please, sit. I wish only to speak, and I promise to be sparing on your time." He indicated both of them. Mack looked inwardly on the verge of a seizure, but a glance from Gray helped him stay focused. He walked back to his desk and sat down, gun in the top right drawer. If this man was what he seemed to be, he either had his killer or was a hell of a lot closer than he ever had been all these years. The madam took another chair at the end of the desk. "I apologize for my sporadic communication." Mithias began. "'Simmons' is a handle I use, one of many. I've come to you for two reasons. One, being that you are uncanny at what you do. Your work, Mr. Allister, is upsetting my business. I applaud your success, of course. I've never encountered such a tenacious sleuth. You have quite the persistence, chasing me through cyberspace." Mithias nodded respectfully. "Of course it is in my best interests not to allow this to continue. I for one prefer the direct and peaceful approach, and so I have come to you at Priest and Hawthorne P.I. to negotiate." Mithias casually reached over to twirl a pen about his fingers from the desk. The tips of fangs were visible under his lip as he spoke. "Truthfully, I mean you no harm. I have more than I need in terms of resources, at least as long as you cease to intervene, and I hold no malicious agenda of a new world order or any such nonsense. In fact, I already have a personal interest in what you do and would like to offer my services. I'm interested in peace, good sir, and madam, and I realize a large part of this depends upon relations between humans and... the supernatural as you call it." He flicked the pen to spin magnificently in his absent mind as he went on. "I've run across vampires, but I've never encountered other supernatural beings. Of course, I've never looked for them. In all these years, I've attributed witches and fortunetellers to human fantasy. I am very curious. But, listen to me carry on. I promised I'd be short on time. What say you to my proposal? Will you quit stalking me on the internet and consider my working with you in exchange?" Mithias placed down the pen and rested his cheek on his fingertips, and they realized they were having a conversation with a vampire.
