[@Wraithblade6] not really. Hunters are focused on well hunting magic creatures. W&R cover cases beyond just monsters. It is all the aspects of magical beasts where to find them then kill them. Jaklo and  seph are hunters without pets. Jakllo being the traditional monster hunter. Seph being an anti mage hunter (as in he specializes in killing ologists who go rogue).

Now everyone can do that, but hunters study all their prey and learn everything they can to become better than it. All the other schools study magic and might try to apply it, but you'd have a nineteenth of the knowledge a hunter has about your foe.
