Walk in pitch darkness all the way to either the station or Alaska, avoiding shoddy mines with blinking lights and enjoying the odd warm marker light every say ten miles in a tunnel? For kindness' sake let's say it's a four minute walk to the station and... I don't know American Continental Geography so a very long walk to Alaska? Or use the platform to get to the station, to get the train to Alaska, the mines are quite specific: A warm object less then a ton and a half in weight.
