It was natural for people to be born with the ability to do something "superhuman". Even common, to an extent. There's also the fact that every single one of us had the capability to learn how to project energy in the form of a beam or a bolt, but that was somewhat left behind over the last so many years of our existence as technological advancements surpassed the effectiveness of that ability.
