[@TheIrishJJ][@Winter Kitten] Faceclaim? Is that what I think it is? Entirely basing characters and your avatar/profile of of a single person?
That's just basing a character off a person. I have plenty of inspirations, but they usually don't look alike to the characters I make. Even then they're loosely based so I'm able to use what I have malleably. A faceclaim is simply using a well known actor/singer/individual as the appearance for a character. Claiming the appearance, i.e. the face, for purely aesthetic reasons. I want to say the term itself originated from Tumblr, since people would make entire blogs dedicated to a character in an RP and Tumblr is very aesthetic and picture focused, so it's kinda necessary to use an individual with a big database of pictures and gifs. On here, it just makes it incredibly easy to find an appearance for your character without going through google searching, "dark haired female with incredibly sharp cheek bones." It's easier to just type in, "Milla Jovavich" or "Natalie Portman" to get the same results with higher quality pictures. (And nowadays a lot of people are incredibly visual when it comes to reading. It's nice to have a template for what you're imagining rather than trying to come up with something from scratch. Templates are awesome I suggest using them for everything from characters, to paintings, to structures, etc. They act as a flexible skeleton to contain your work without t spewing out into chaos and becoming an amorphous mess.)
