Let me know what you guys think. I figure Lisa's escape damaged a portion of the facility she was in, which could explain a need for Gene Co to gather new subjects and test the formula further, to make up for the findings that were lost. That would be fantastic actually! Please criticize my backstory as much as you like, I really don't want to make a character that won't work well with the current lore. WIP Character you have created: Lisa Hernandez Alias: Experiment 44, EX-44
All Gene Co experiments are classed as this: Serum number-Subject number. Currently the total number is about 36, which the latest one is 036-014. I haven’t established these individuals fully but I aimed for them to be more unified in their mutations than previous serums mainly as they are more limited due to not having the virus. With the virus’ disappearance, turning on various meta genes and creating your own custom soldier has become rather difficult without killing the individual. The virus vanished months ago, around the 32 series, I believe, which forced the corporation to halt its progression and instead repeat a past pattern with gene therapy. Most survivors have had little issue adapting but all are pretty much carbon copies of each other’s powers. So I might suggest she was an experiment before then, and been in hiding for a few months unless you want to alter your powers. IF that’s the case, I can give you a rundown of the powers if you like?
Speech Color: #44bbff Character Alignment: Walking the Line Identity: Secret Character Personality: Lisa doesn’t remember anything before her transformation into EX-44. She is wary of everyone, and will lash out if she feels threatened or startled, with often disastrous results. She doesn’t have much of a moral compass, and makes little distinction between right and wrong, having forgotten important lessons about justice and equality from her old life. She has no concept of personal space once she recognizes someone as nonthreatening, though hates being touched if she hasn’t initiated the contact first. She is very gullible once she thinks she can trust someone, though only remains loyal for as long as her new ally can keep her attention. Lisa fostered a deep love for painting from an early age, and, after receiving a Hispanic scholarship from Lost Haven University, was well on her way to fulfilling her dream of becoming a professional illustrator. She worked hard in college, enough to catch the eye of one of the younger biology professors. Dr. Gregory Toothman was the talk of the science department, and soon swept Lisa off her feet. She graduated, and not long after, married Dr. Toothman. His connections opened up opportunities Lisa couldn’t have dreamed of, and while she was working happily in her dream career, he was making a name for himself in the scientific community of Lost Haven.
Depending on how old he was, and when this happened, Gregory could’ve worked for the Black Project branch before or after he met Lisa. He could’ve been approached by Gene Co personally, namely an individual named Victor Black. Creepy, unsettling individual who determines if someone’s fitting to work with the less moral place of the company. Through during this time Gregory would be slowly cut off from his family as he edged deeper, and deeper into the sector.
With the help of a new, better-paying job working for a private company, Dr. Toothman bought his wife a large home in the suburbs outside Lost Haven. Lisa was pregnant, and after giving birth to their son Thomas, was happy to work from home and take care of the baby. Soon her baby became an energetic little boy, who was always happy to greet his father after his long days at work. Lisa had stopped trying to glean any information from her husband about what he did at his job, and was content to live her life without ever knowing. She became pregnant again, and this time she had a daughter named Maria. There were complications with the birth however, and Dr. Toothman rushed to the hospital to stay with his wife while she recovered. When they returned home, Lisa decided to tidy up the house, as her messy husband hadn’t cleaned in days. She went into his office, and found files on his desk that detailed strange things--lists of symptoms, disturbing photographs of shaved animals covered in mutations, diagrams naming chemicals she’d never heard of--it was enough to make her worry.
I have two suggestions for making this work, namely if you want connected to Gene Co. The first one is pretty simple, Gregory could’ve went against department rules and brought his work research home. By this time, Gene Co is now using humans as lab rats rather than animals. Through the results are pretty gross, varying similar effects as Racheli’s on her CS. I suggest taking a look at that.
She left his office quickly, and said nothing to her husband for days. But those photos and files gnawed at her with a question she’d been asking herself for years--what does he do? She planted a simple tracker into Dr. Toothman’s car, and traced it to the countryside beyond Lost Haven’s city limits. The tracker went dead just minutes before she could meet its location, and before she could turn back and go home, her car was ambushed and gassed.
It’s more likely she was set upon by a SES (Serum Enhance Soldier). Gene Co would then make arrangements within the day/night to make her vanish suddenly. This would also have consequences for Gregory since she is his wife and it was his sloppiness that brought her there. The consequences could result in him being framed for illegal experiments, then mysteriously dying in prison, becoming a subject himself (less likely), or merely having him get into a fatal wreck unless he showed his complete loyalty to the company by never contacting the outside world again.
She awoke to a sterile table, doctors, scientists, and needles. The years wore her down. She accepted her fate after a while, and hoped one of the many tests she was put through daily would eventually kill her. She forgot the faces of her children, her parents, and her husband. After a while, she forgot her own face. Then her name. She was only Experiment 44: stronger and hardier than the other 43, apparently. The scientists seemed pleased by her reactions to the chemicals they pumped into her weekly. Death seemed a disappointing outcome to them.
*points to the bit addressing the numbering system and the points made there* The recent experiments are more unified as they are re-hashing old serum formulas which is limiting their evolution options, as priorly mentioned.
After years, it seemed they’d gathered what they wanted, and strapped her into a machine for one final test. Experiment 44 was ready to die, and did not fight when several needles pumped more poison into her veins. For a few minutes, nothing happened. But then the restraints snapped, and the whole room went supernova.
Sadly, I can’t see Gene Co destroying her since she was success through they might dissect her alive as they will eventually do to Rach when they are done studying her. This could still cause what you’re looking for and only create minor changes, even have Jacquline aiming on either killing her or getting her back depending on situation.
In EX-44's earliest memory, she was running. Desperate, lost, running faster than the helicopters could keep up, faster than the missiles, nets and barriers could catch her. Her hands were bound with cuffs even her strength couldn't break, and something had been locked onto her head that blocked most of her vision and gave her a headache. She had no idea from where or to where she was running, only ran, faster and faster, until the loud noises stopped and the blurred city in the distance grew close enough to touch. Hero Type: Brick/Psychic Power Level: World Level Powers: Beyond super-toughness, supersonic flight, and super speed and strength, EX-44 can “extend” her consciousness into the minds of others, networking brains into a kind of hivemind, with her at the center. She can see through each one of her thrall’s eyes, as well as control their actions and the actions of all others simultaneously, as if they were independent. She can only try to read the mind of one person at a time, and doing so will drop anyone else she is controlling. Attributes Strength Level: 100+ Tons Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Supersonic Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 2 hours Agility: 15X Intelligence: Average Fighting Skill: Untrained Resources: Average Weaknesses: In her current state, she can barely control her psychic powers without her suppressor helmet, and the feeling of unwillingly overtaking strangers’ minds causes her great distress. She also doesn’t know her own strength or speed, and can bash into buildings or break things if she isn’t extremely careful. The only thing she can’t break is her suppressor helmet, which delivers an agonizing shock if tampered with. Supporting Characters Dr. Gregory Toothman Lisa’s ex-husband. A scientist working for Gene Co. Whereabouts unknown. Thomas Hernandez Lisa’s son. Ten years old. In foster care with his little sister. Doesn’t realize his mother is alive. Maria Hernandez Lisa’s daughter. Five years old.
Look for the quoted segments as I found it earlier to point out directly what would be ideal to change and even offered solutions for the same result. Right now, I don't have a timeline so I would suggest having this happen a few months to a year ago for some leeway. You could start her IC post with her current whereabouts and work through budding memories, etc to a point. In addition, since she is from a serum likely from Rach then they do have a connection which we can discuss the details tomorrow or some time.
