One day I will find a picture.
Adam Dagon| 17 | Male
Appearance: Adam stands at 6'1", with a slightly muscular build. He has messy blond hair, hazel eyes, and pale skin. Noticeable features include scar under right eye. Adam could blend in easily in a crowd, and attracts moderate female attention due to him being considered 'attractive'. Has constant bags under his eyes, and very smooth skin. Is very hygienic, and has perfect teeth and nails. Rarely smiles.
Powers: Adam has an ability that is quite useless in combat: He can speak to the dead. Being a Medium means Adam can see and converse with 'echoes' of people who have departed this world. Echoes act as copies of the deceased made up of energy. Human beings are filled with energy, and a lot of it. Whether it be the electricity flowing through the brain, or the pumping heart, we need energy to move. But, humans also contain radiation from regular exposure to technology and the aftermath of the war. The combination of these factors leads to the creations of echoes, or self sustaining replicas of deceased humans. Echos exist on a special wavelength, that can only be seen by supposed mediums. The echoes mainly act out keystone moments of their life, such as their birth, or their death. Mediums can manipulate which 'keystone' is displayed with relative ease. Most people experience 3-5 keystone events throughout their life. If a medium concentrates, they can force pieces of information out of an echo, like the name of their spouse. This takes up quite a bit of energy, and can only be used once a day due to the power it needs. The ability to view this wavelength gives Adam some special abilities. One of which, he can see echoes, and other odd entities that can be explained by radiation, or something else. These malignant, nonhuman energies are referred to as demons by the uninformed, and UWRs by scientists. UWR stands for unidentified wavelength riders. Another positive side effect of the ability to view this mysterious wavelength is increased mental strength due to the constant barrage of unfamiliar images and sounds, any medium that hasn't been driven to insanity has a higher resistance to mental abilities. This does have some negative effects. Weaknesses/Limitations: The dead scream. Adam cannot turn off his ability, and so sees echoes wherever he goes. And they see him. The dead scream about how they died, their hardships, their pain. It hurts Adam to constantly hear the moans of the departed, even though he was built up some resistance, he is not completely immune Also, he is constantly tired. Viewing the 'spirit world' takes a large toll upon Adam, and he cannot turn it off. This, in turn, leads to an extra irritable mood. This also means he eats a substantial amount more than the average human, due to the high energy costs. The mental barrier also has a negative effect. It increases sensitivity to loud noises, due to the brain being less familiar with 'our world' than the 'spirit world'. It also causes headaches when confronted with bright lights, and when combined with the constant hunger and irritability, can lead to insanity at a young age.
Personality: Adam is a spite filled human being, distrustful of everybody upon first meeting. Quick witted, he isn't against making a few mean jokes. Doesn't enjoy making friends, and just hates people in general. Adam has a very morbid view on life, due to him seeing the dead all day every day. He is very irritable, which leads to him snapping often. Disagrees with most everything, due to all the conflicting information the dead feed him. Holds the belief that the UWRs are demons unleashed upon Earth, come to feed upon the echoes. This belief is odd, as Adam doesn't believe in any religion due to his...condition. Backstory: Adam grew up in District 2, the area formerly known as Chicago. His early life was quite troubled, as his mother was constantly on the verge of death. He ran errands, and worked the odd job around the neighborhood to support her. Checks came in from his father, and the neighbors pitched in. He received an average public education, and read many books. But at the age of 11, his mother died His mother had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and died in the year 2015. He was devastated, and began to crawl into an emotional shell from which he never returned. His father came by to pick him up, in a sports car. He ran a bank, and was quite rich. He hired private tutors for Adam, but never truly loved him. He considered taking care of him a chore. Life was quiet, until the age of 17. Adam had recently gotten in trouble for the wrong reasons. Adam has committed arson on the house of one Jeremiah Conroy, otherwise known as the Butcher of Bel\lmont. He killed on Belmont Avenue, earning him the name. He had brutally dissected 7 innocents, and Adam had been looking through records nand connected the evidence. Jeremiah died in the fire, but Adam's father payed off the system. But he never acted the same around him. Adam fell deeper and deeper into his so called vigilantism, taking down small crooks via extortion. This small time detective work was useless, his only significant actions being the takedown of the Butcher, and an event that would permanently change his life. His father was unaware of what was going on, until Adam attempted to bring down the culprit of the Michigan Murders. A series of grisly murders was being committed on Michigan Avenue to those walking late at night. There was one victim a night, and it lasted 1 month. The terror in the air was palpable. Adam stole his fathers gun, and went out to find the culprit. He searched, and searched, and found nothing. Until he found the victim of the night. Adam turned around, and saw the culprit turning a corner. Chasing after him, he let loose a gunshot and mortally wounded the man. The body was never found. The murders stopped, but Adam became convinced the murderer was out there. But he never showed his face. Soon enough, Adam was tested. Having tested positive, his father sent him away without a second thought. Feeling betrayed, Adam went along with the guards. No way he could overpower them. And so, we are brought to the present, Adam being brought to the training facility along with his fellow rejects.
