I don't get obsessed but I'd say if a popular movie is already out on DVD then anyone die-hard enough about spoilers to complain would have had plenty enough opportunities to see it so it's safe to assume (also you can have a case-by-case basis on which movies might me more spoiler worthy, Star Wars, for example, has more major plot spoilers in its script than Deadpool) although if you haven't seen Star War VII by now you deserve to know that Kylo Ren kills Han Solo. Rip. TV shows are more of a gray area, I know every time I've talked to people about Doctor Who I always say "I haven't seen the latest season yet so don't spoil it please" but I also won't get pissy if I happen to come across a spoiler on social media, etc.
