Jett held up his hands defensively. "Hey, it's not entirely as bad as it sounds! I just couldn't handle all of the death and destruction I was seeing around me on a day to day basis, especially with the girl I love at the center of it all. But she couldn't bring herself to pull away from the danger of being leader," he shrugged. He paused, and added quickly, "I'm not making excuses, though. I know it was a terrible thing to do... but hopefully she won't be dying to punch me again for the rest of her life," he chuckled, gesturing to his swollen nose with some dried blood from the bloody nose she'd given him when he arrived.
