[b]Backstory:[/b] Dr. Shade grew up in The Black Bayou, a place in the world where the shadows are dark, the magic is strong, and the soul is a valued commodity. It is here that the shadow demons make their home and here that many a person follows the voodoo career path. Dr. Shade was no exception. However, he differed from other practitioners by associating with the shadow demons a little closer than normal. In exchange for the majority of his physical strength and a small debt of souls, Dr. Shade gained a deeper understanding of the voodoo forces. But soon enough, the shadow demons' debt began to collect interest and the usual way of collecting souls couldn't keep up. Knowing that very unpleasant things would happen to him if he died before he paid off the debt, Dr. Shade consulted his tarot cards for a way to satisfy his debtors. The cards pointed him to the labyrinth, and this is where our story begins.
