Location: Enroute to the Sanctuary [@Din]
Adrian sat pulsing his ability over and over again in the palm of his hand. Testing his control, learning his limits. The swirling mass was a welcomed distraction from the results of his previous battle. "The last battle was harder tha- ...No. The last battle wasn't any different than the others." Adrian swallowed the bitter pill of pride. Truth was, he was careless. The group had the right strategy, the right placement and they were actually working like a team. He was careless. That's all. Blood still soaked part of his right shoulder. "All this blood because of a moment's hesitation." He'd never express it (at least not in front of other people) but he was in a lot of pain. Adrian replayed the battle over and over again; each time, kicking himself for not reacting fast enough to block the hit. Another jolt of pain. Adrian pulled his focus back to the palm of his had. The black dot reappeared casting an abnormal shadow. The image of his skin distorted and swirled as a tiny universe spun just above his hand. Close enough to grasp but hovering just out of contact. With another squeeze of his power, it popped and vanished from existence. Adrian wanted to get better; NEEDED to get better but another mistake like before and it could be all over. The image of his mother flashed through his mind; consuming his focus and searing to the surface of his memories. Another bite of regret. "If I had only been there to save her she'd still be aliv..." Pain shot down his arm, demanding his attention like a jealous girlfriend. He pulsed another swirling void into existence to regain control of his thoughts. "Just like in basketball, If I can't practice my dribble, I can always work on my free throw. I can't work on my defense, so I am going to work on a new skill." ”Ow! Son of a bitch!” The tiny singularity faded as Adrian glanced up to see Nyt chasing after a small bit of tech that clattered across the ground. She snatched it up and the device lit up in turn, flashing light and strange symbols across her face. She quickly slammed it shut, blinking in bewilderment. ”I’m okay. I’ll just take this and… study it.” She looked confused and surprised as she hurried to an isolated sitting area. Adrian slowly got up, ignoring the throbs of protest from his shoulder, and strode over to where Nyt was sitting. " ...information… Nyt, we’re not in the… correct timeline." "Not be in the correct timeline? How could she not be in the right timeline?" Adrian politely cleared his throat. "Nyt, how does this thing know that you aren't in the right timeline?"
