While Mr. Beaumont seems to have an intelligence higher than most, we cannot determine if that is linked to his power or not. Mr. Beaumont, with enough concentration and visualizing in his mind's eye, can produce different shaped psionic forces. Wondering if this was true, I decided to do some tests. Mr. Beaumont displayed a bit of trouble at using his power; he confessed it's hard for him to concentrate, and get in his mind's eye a shape, the size of the shape, and where it should go. After some testing, I learned that Mr. Beaumont has quite the useful power if it can be mastered. It took a few minutes but after Mr. Beaumont was able to concentrate enough, I got to witness his power firsthand. For having the lack of a word to describe what he produces, I will continue to refer to them as psionic forces. During the testing, I learned quite a few things. Firstly, that Mr. Beaumont can control how thick the psionic forces can be. For example, he created a thin circle seemingly out of the air, purely from his own mind, but because it was so thin, it was almost invisible; only at the right angel could one see the light catching on the surface. However, when he thickened it, it became more visible. In short, depending on the width of the shape Mr. Beaumont is imagining, depends on if one can see it. So, if he made a thin shape the size of his hand, it would not be visible to the eye, not even to his own; just in his mind. This brought me to my second point quite quickly: the size. He can control the size of the shapes, increase or decrease them after he brings them into existence. How big he can get one, we are unsure. That went untested because Mr. Beaumont seemed to be tiring. More on that later, moving onto the third discovery. Mr. Beaumont can seemingly form these psionic forces wherever he pleases, if he can see the place in his mind's eye, but the psionic force does disappear as soon as he loses concentration or stops visualizing it. Because of the fact he can make them appear wherever he sees, he can also move them. I learned that the hard way when he hit me in the forehead... from across the room. He had found the shocked look on my face to be quite humorous; at least someone had found the humor in that "gesture." The testing did not last too long. Mr. Beaumont has concentration problems (more on that in his mental eval), and as he was showing me his powers, he was growing visibly tired. Mr. Beaumont has used his powers before, but he did admit they tire him out; first mentally, and then physically. I found that it strictly depends on what he's doing with the power, how often he's doing it, and the force with which he's doing it, that determines how fast he grows tired. It did take some time for him to start appearing visibly tired, and so he has the potential to hone the power better, and use it during battle without tiring as quickly. As a final part of the test, I had thrown a small, rubber stress ball in his direction unexpectedly; he flinched a little as the ball appeared to hit something invisible in the air and fall to the ground inches from him. This proved to me that Mr. Beaumont is not in full control of his power; even a small threat such as a rubber ball triggers his power into reacting subconsciously. This could prove dangerous later, if he is feeling threatened in a situation with a fellow student, or if he does not pay attention well enough to his surroundings. Because of this, Mr. Beaumont needs extra hours put into controlling his power. I asked him why he had flinched, not only for the obvious reasons, but to see if a theory I had was correct. And it was. Mr. Beaumont revealed to me that if the psionic force is not thick enough, or large enough, that his own body can feel the force of whatever blow he's blocking that the shape he created takes on. It it heavily advised to not only concentrate on his control, but also to focus on teaching him to strengthen his psionic forces to the point it becomes second nature. It would not due to have him stop a bus with one of his psionic forces only for it to feel like that bus hit him because he hadn't thought to thicken it beforehand. Mr. Beaumont believes he, himself, can take a harder hit than the average being, has had it proven, but that doesn't mean we want him getting hit by buses or anything without being able to automatically visual his psionic forces as thick enough to take the butt of the blow. Furthermore, I didn't voice this, but I knew Mr. Beaumont is not made like Thor, nor anywhere near like the Hulk, so a hit by a bus would more than likely still severely injure him.
★ Skills of Note ★
Pick-pocketing: From living on the streets for almost two years, Nick has quick hands that make it easy for him to sneakily pick-pocket people. Quick-learner: Nick has shown an intelligence beyond the average being's and picks up quite quickly on anything he's being taught. The trick to this is if he chooses to remember what he's learned or not. [s]Surprisingly[/s] skilled with words: One wouldn't think Nick would be capable of communicating in such a tactful and respectful way, but surprisingly, he can figure out the right thing to say in a tense situation, or how to charm his way into getting something he wants. He shows the possibility of having strong diplomatic skills, how to work his way around a conversation to get the information he wants, and how to talk someone down or up. Leadership skills: Nick's mind works faster than the average being's, and with his quick thinking, comes the ability to assess a situation, work out the best solution, and implement it in quick succession. He can possess a commanding air about him however, he doesn't very often show it, and at the moment, seems to prefer sitting back and observing. Technically inclined/Hacking: Nick openly loves technology of any sort. He loves taking things apart and putting them back together, or even attempting to make something new. With this, comes some fair hacking skills. Not the best around, for sure, but his skills could prove possibly useful in the future. Hand-to-hand combat: From his four years of living at Stark's Tower, being the protege to Captain America, and from being best friends with one Garret Rogers, Nick can hold his own in close combat. He isn't as good as Garret, and definitely isn't anywhere near as good as someone like Natasha or even Steve, but combine what he knows with his power, and he can do some damage if needed. From almost two years of living on the streets, Nick had already had a fighting style similar to Garret's to begin with; one didn't get by on the streets by fighting clean. But from training with Garret, he has enhanced that fighting style, a fighting style some would call dirty, but Nick prefers to call resourceful.
✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪
[sub]Psychological Profile[/sub]
★ Mental Evaluation ★
Subject appears to be a typical twenty year old. However, upon further questioning, I began to notice some things about him that rose a couple red flags. Mr. Beaumont, during my first impression of him, comes off as a talkative, easily excitable person. Quite... talkative, actually. It took a couple minutes of Mr. Beaumont asking his own questions before I could properly get the evaluation started. He is a very curious person, and I had observed that he was slightly fidgety, knee bouncing up and down, fingers banging on the table, foot tapping on the floor; it seemed these things went unnoticed by him, as if it was common. Though, he did surprise me, because he evaded answering questions in such a way, I hadn't even noticed until I took pause long enough to look back on the vague answers I had written down. Mr. Beaumont is very good at turning a conversation where he wants it to go, at saying distracting things to throw the other person off, like he had with myself, though I hesitate to admit it. When I pointed this out and told Mr. Beaumont I was going to start the questioning over, he had grown quiet for the longest period of time since first entering the room. I went ahead with the questioning and after a few minutes of not answering, Mr. Beaumont had let out a long sigh, seemingly deflating, and began to answer my questions in a more honest, and open manner, that took me by shock. I hadn't expected him to suddenly open up so much in front of me, but he had, and I wasn't seeing the same excitable person from before. I do not say talkative, because that came back with a vengeance. As we went through the questioning, Mr. Beaumont would hop back to a previous question to elaborate or add to an answer, then resume his prior answer, or just go off about something else entirely before getting back on his original train of thought. While the questions were still fairly simple, nothing too hard or invasive yet, he had slightly cringed every time he would go on a tangent of thought, shake his head, and get back onto the topic at hand. I did notice he'd sometimes take pause during an answer, as if collecting his train of thought or preventing saying something, and then continue. I didn't comment on this behaviour, I let it continue, until I was sure of what I was witnessing. He has hyperactive-impulsive ADHD. I knew he did not have inattentive ADHD, for he did pay much attention to me, he was listening, and he hadn't forgotten any of the previous questions or his answers. However, I did notice at times, he'd pause in the middle of a sentence, to look thoughtful, before continuing. Getting distracted didn't seem uncommon for him, even by his own thoughts, but that wasn't enough to classify him as having both types of ADHD. The symptoms I have seen so far in Mr. Beaumont of having hyperactive-impulsive ADHD is - fidgeting/squirming, talking more than necessary, blurting things out, seemingly full of energy by the way he moves even while sitting down, and later, he had gotten up and paced the room some, and so he cannot sit still for long periods of time. Or perhaps that is a nervous tick, that I have not concluded yet. But I can safely say Mr. Beaumont does have hyperactive-impulsive ADHD, not quite acute, but it has not been properly treated either. I will try him out on a few different non-stimulant and stimulant medications over a period of time to see if any of them help calm him down. I voiced all this to him, to gauge his reaction, and he did not seem very thrilled at all. However, I did find out he had been diagnosed with hyperactive-impulsive ADHD at a young age, but he hadn't disclosed that to us until that moment. When asked what treatment he was given, he had given a short answer of that his parents didn't care enough to get him help. Which, brought me to my next discovery of Mr. Beaumont's personality that was turning out more complex than originally thought. Once the questioning turned to his past, Mr. Beaumont shut down completely. At first, he was, from what I know of him, uncharacteristically quiet, and would not answer my questions. I kept going, as is my job, and that was the moment he chose to jump up and begin pacing the room. So, perhaps that was not linked to his ADHD, but simply because he was growing agitated at my prying questions. I kept pushing, to see how far I could get, when Mr. Beaumont grew visibly angry to the point I wondered if I was going to leave this room with a black eye - or worse. Mr. Beaumont went on an angry ramble that he told me his past was off limits, that he remembered it enough from the nightmares and memories, and then stormed out with the door slamming so harshly, it shook the walls (I assume his power came out a little to assist with that feat). That was more than I was expecting to get from the young man, in all honesty, but it was useful for this eval, at the very least. I do not see Mr. Beaumont as a threat to anyone at the Academy; his anger stems from a tragic past he does not wish to dive in too. Besides his ADHD, it seems he may suffer from a small case of depression, perhaps coming from the fact he suffers nightmares, and doesn't sleep as often as he could. I do wonder if he feels guilty from his past. From what I know of it, I would not be surprised. Mr. Beaumont can more than likely benefit from being at the Academy. A stable environment with the proper medications and support systems can do wonders for him, and hopefully help him come to terms with his past. From the beginning half of our questioning, I saw an individual with the potential to be compassionate, understanding, and righteous in his own way, a young man who was charming, funny, and engaging; he just needs the proper help and right tools to properly open up this side of him.
★ Physical Evaluation ★
Subject appears to come off as an average twenty year old. Mr. Beaumont has a normal height of 5'7, with a body that is toned, with a fine layering of muscle, but nothing close to body-builder's standards nor a brick house. His skin complexion seems more on the fair side and when asked, he reported that "my delicate skin cannot take the rays of the sun for too long lest it burn." A dramatic way of putting he sunburns pretty easily. A blemish of note is a beauty mark located under his right eye; besides that, he has a few scars, but nothing out of the ordinary or seemingly from self-infliction. Mr. Beaumont's hair is short, cut barely above his ears, with bangs that he keeps spiked up to stay off his forehead. The color appears, for the most part, to be a dark brown. However, I noticed when the lighting hits it just right, it appears dirty blonde, or even blonde. I'm sure in the sunlight, it comes off as more blonde than dark brown unless wet. Set under thin dirty-blonde eyebrows, are some shocking blue eyes. Mr. Beaumont's are a fine blue, darker in color, though when inspecting his eyes up close with my "cute little flashlight," as he called it, they seemed lighter in color. It seems neither his hair nor eyes can decide the shade they want to be. Mr. Beaumont was sporting barely there facial hair; a five o'clock that hasn't quite reached five yet. He said sometimes, he may let it grow out, that it appears more of a blonde color, but he usually keeps himself clean-shaven. Another subject with a surprisingly straight nose after reporting they have broken it before. Mr. Beaumont has lips that could be said are on the edge of being pouty, especially his bottom lip, and they appear to be in a constant state of red from his licking/biting/chewing on them that I witnessed firsthand. [s]Not that it was a sight to complain about.[/s] His smile is something that can be said is too big for his face; each time he smiled or laughed, his mouth appeared too big for his face, but I'm sure many would find that more adorable than unattractive. His clothing style seems to be typical of a twenty year old. Comfortable. He was happy to inform that he wears "whatever the hell" he feels like on any given day, because fashion isn't something he's worried about.
★ Biography ★
It had been an accident. It had been an accident. Nick hadn't meant for it to happen but it had and now his parents hated him. Now he hated himself and he was only fourteen. He hadn't meant to hurt her. He was just showing her his power, she loved his power, and now... because he had gotten overly excited... she wasn't going to wake up. It was all his fault. His parents blamed him, they couldn't even look at him. He could only take half a year of sneaking into his little sister's room to suffer quietly before he ran away. His parents didn't care, wouldn't miss him; they had never cared for him like they had Alaina. Which was all right, because Alaina had been loved, but now he... he did something unforgivable and he had to get out. He ran away, far away, leaving his city home in Quebec, Canada, and running to the States. Didn't people always start fresh over there? Thing was, Nick didn't know where to go and found himself in big, beautiful and scary NYC. He had known English, knew French better, but he picked up quick. He had no choice. He came to find out that a life on the streets was a hard one, indeed. Nearly two years of barely getting by and he met his hero, who hadn't been his hero until a short time after meeting him. Pick-pocketing and stealing was the only way to get by in the streets, and Nick did both. He had pick-pocketed a tall, blonde man and snagged his wallet before slipping off to his little set-up in an alley-way. The man had followed, however and, expecting a fight because that was what Nick usually got into, he had sent a psionic wall at the man to knock him on his ass. It should have knocked him out, with the force Nick sent it at him, but instead, the man got up. Instead of anger, Nick was shown a kindness he hadn't been shown in far too long, and he couldn't stop himself from giving in to the man's offer of help. Steve Rogers. Captain America. Nick had heard of him before, even living on the streets as a hobo ("Free lancer," as Nick had called himself), he was in NYC, of course he had heard of him. Nick's stay at Stark's Tower was only supposed to be for a few days, weeks, at the most, until Steve could help him properly get on his feet. However, Nick met Garret Rogers while there. Nick had been hardened by the streets, unsociable, weary of others. Steve was the first person he had actually opened up too a little in years. Garret, though... the two just clicked. Something happened between them the instant they met and Nick had begun transforming into a completely different person. How could Steve and Bucky Barnes send Nick on his way when he and their son became instant best friends? Cue about four years of Nick living at Stark's Tower, training not only under Cap himself (who he idolized like no other) but Natasha, and Clint as well, alongside Garret in that case. Nick had quickly settled into the domestic life at the Tower, Garret and Cap (and Tony on the technological side) both helping shape him into the person he is today. Without them, Nick would not be who he is; without them, Nick wouldn't even know where he would be. He feels like he owes a lot to them, not only Cap and Garret, but everyone else in the Tower too, and he couldn't love them all enough. Nick felt like there was something more he could be doing with his life, though, and before he hit twenty, Cap suggested he join S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy. Nick didn't even have to think it. He had everyone's blessings, Steve's was especially important to him, and it would be good for him, give him a purpose in his life, something that he needed to help ground him when things get too hard.
✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪
[sub]Extras[/sub]
★ Likes ★
✔ Musicals/singing. ✔ Vents. ✔ Dogs. ✔ Being tactile. ✔ Learning/discovering new things. ✔ Coding (really, anything to do with computers). ✔ Coffee (really only because it's what keeps him alive after nights he can't sleep).
✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ★ Dislikes ★
✘ His tendency to ramble/lose train of thought. ✘ Seeing anyone hurt but especially children. ✘ Pushy attitudes. ✘ Bullies/assholes. ✘ Not being able to sleep. ✘ Having to sit still for long periods of time. ✘ His past being brought up.
★ Miscellaneous ★
Nick has an obsession with console/PC games, a stranger obsession with plants ("Plants are so fucking cool, okay?"), and an unhealthy obsession with greasy foods, but especially pizza (and he can pack it in, bottomless pit right here) and chocolate because c'mon.
