[@Ariamis] I think what he meant is don't, like, abuse the shit out of it and make them all kill themselves and just completely bypass the encounter entirely. Like, it may be "less effective" like not complete mind control, but at least to some degree. In DnD there is a spell where you can suggest things to creatures, but it can't be to kill themselves or do something too far from what they'd normally do. Kind of like "You should leave, it's dangerous" or "There seems like some expensive loot over there". Just mild suggestions like that seem reasonable to things like trolls and kobolds. And the less intelligent, the more control, but maybe not like full blown control until you get more powerful or they're really stupid.

But that's just my two cents, to maybe suggest something
