It should be noted that while he has strength and speed, Mr. Foley is severely lacking in agility and training. He often cannot fully control his strength – for example, during testing he was asked to clear an 8 meter wall. His first jump fell short by two meters, and his second attempt he overshot it by about three meters, landing quite ungracefully in a heap on the other side. He also has no training in hand-to-hand combat, relying only on brute strength. One of our own agents was able to get him down on the ground in minutes, despite his strength and speed. This should be rectified with proper training – once he knows his limits and can control his strength and speed properly, he should prove quite effective in combat. As for now, he’ll make a great battering ram.
Superhuman senses: The subject’s five senses have increased three-fold when in his regular state; when his “wilder side”, as he has dubbed it, comes out, it increases even more by six times better than a regular human. While this has increased his sense of hearing, it has also increased the pitch and frequency to what he can hear. In a quick experiment unknown to him, the subject winced when a colleague outside blew on a dog whistle. This could prove to be useful, but also potentially a weakness if his enemies are aware of it – high frequencies are, after all, capable of incapacitating people. It should also be noted that he has excellent night vision, but cannot see in other spectrums of light. The UV spectrum, while not physically harming him, causes irritation to his eyes.
Enhanced healing factor and regenerative tissue: The subject showed hypertrophic scar tissue that would have appeared to be several decades old, considering the pale quality – the most notable thing about them was in fact they ridge ever so slightly above his regular skin. The subject sustained the wounds leading to the scar tissue under a year ago, showing just how swift his healing is. Mr. Foley stated that the only reason he scarred was because of the severity of the wounds, that they were continually re-opened, and he was not “fed”. This leads me to my next point of his consumption of blood. While Mr. Foley can survive without drinking it, unlike full-blooded vampires, he suffers great consequences if he does not. The feeling of starvation and sapping of willpower aside, he loses all of the enhancements his vampiric genetics have given him, unless a state of bloodlust (A similar reaction of an adrenaline rush, caused by the ichor in his blood) occurs. In addition to this, he loses his healing factor. If he were to sustain third-degree burns, but had recently digested blood, or took some after the incident, the healing would take place almost immediately at an astonishing rate, leaving behind no mark. The further he is from a feed, the longer it takes for him to heal fully.
[sub]Note: While feeding should not be an issue – blood bags and the like – his feeding should be monitored. With the havoc wreaked at the R.A.I.D facility after the subject was starved for six months, SHIELD would do well to not take chances with something like that again.[/sub]

While in the R.A.I.D facility, the subject showed the true extent of his power through what has been dubbed as “Bloodlust.” Security camera footage has shown the manner in which he easily cut through the scientists and guards experimenting on him, unfazed by bullets as his flesh regenerated and pushed out the offending projectiles in mere seconds. It should be noted that during this time, Mr. Foley lost all consciousness, and was driven purely on primal rage and survival instinct. While he states he vaguely recalls the incident, he had no control over his actions within the facility. Safe-guards should be put in place should this incident occur again.

“I’d been tracking this kiddo for a few weeks before he got taken by his Sire; I’m still kicking myself for losing him so easily, but this guy was a pro; he’d been a vamp way longer than I had, that’s for sure. Anyway, when I eventually tracked Roran down, I found the facility in ruins. The bodies inside... sheesh, I’ve seen Wolverine do less damage to people, let’s just leave it at that. A lot of the equipment had been damaged in his escape, but I managed to get my hands on the reports of his “testing”. These bastards didn’t leave anything to the imagination, with what I read. Suddenly, I understand why they’d been slaughtered so callously. As you know, I just grabbed what I could and got the hell out of dodge before their reinforcements showed up, so I’m not sure if they did more tests other than what I found. For his sake, I hope they didn’t."
Experiment #4: The subject has shown resilience towards extensive exposure to UV rays; after ten hours of high-powered UV rays, skin of the subject was red and tender to the touch. We expected blistering to form, but regenerative capabilities brought the skin back to its regular shade after only thirty minutes. Further testing required. Experiment #9: The subject began to show signs of discomfort after its feeding was delayed by 12 hours. Whether this is due to the extra pressure we are putting it under, or whether this would occur normally, we are unsure. This will have to be revisited following the end of this bout of experimentation. Experiment #23: Subject shows resilience to use of silver. Using a control with a regular vampire, the control showed considerable amounts of pain to silver being pressed against its skin; subject was unaffected by it. However, when resorting to the use holy symbols and water, found some effectiveness in these. While holy water proved to cause mild discomfort of the subject (And severe agony of the control), crosses did not. Considering the subject is a strong Catholic, and yet was sent to us wearing a gold cross pendant, has caused some confusion among experimenters in regards to traditional vampiric nature. (Vampires will be affected by holy symbols based on their opinion of holy symbols – for example, a modern day vampire may be unaffected by pagan symbols, as they have no knowledge nor belief in said religion; alternatively, if one is a devout Catholic when turned, a cross would prove to be agonising and very effective.) Note: Control subject broke free, had to be destroyed. Experimentation will continue once control is replaced. Experiment #56 Upon finishing experiments in regards to traditional vampiric weaknesses (Silver, holy symbols, garlic, necessity of invitations to enter a home all were ineffective. Holy Water went up in rating from discomfort to physical pain after submerging subject fully in a vat of it – it didn’t take long for it to begin screaming, showing obvious pain.), we have moved onto starvation. It has been two days since the subject last fed on blood, and we have discovered a rise in fatigue, as stamina, endurance, speed and strength have all decreased. With this surprising result, we will continue starving the subject, and then repeat out previous experimentations to see if they have any additional effects on it. Note: Genetic coding still has not yielded the information necessary to halt the fatal effect UV light has on Vampires.

Skills of Note:

Tracking: While this could quite easily be linked to Mr. Foley’s enhanced senses, it is a skill he has honed over time. Scents, tracks, and minute bits of evidence that could otherwise be overlooked are never missed by him.
Empathy with animals: This skill too, could be linked to his half-Vampiric nature, as animals – notable felines – get along extraordinarily well with him. While he cannot talk with nor control the beasts, the more intelligent of them (Such as cats, dogs, horses and some birds) will often follow out whatever he has asked them to do. According to the subject, this skill is “An Irish thing, not a Vampire thing.”
Botany: Extremely talented in identifying various forms of flora, likely taught by his Botanist mother. While this, and gardening makes for a very therapeutic hobby for the subject, it may also prove useful out in the wilds, as he is capable of identifying and foraging for the rarest of plants; should he ever be stranded, this skill would prove useful in finding sustenance and avoiding poisonous flora.
Swimming: Having swam competitively as a child and teenager, Mr.Foley’s skill in water is unmatched. While his enhanced strength and speed obviously aids this (When these effects kicked in around the age of 17, he no longer took part in competitions, considering it to be “Cheating”.), Mr. Foley insists that his lung capacity has nothing to do with his genetics. “Vampires don’t even need to breathe, so I think I can safely say my talent in holding my breath is all down to me.” He then went on to say he thinks he can die by suffocation or drowning, but he’s not sure.

[sub]Psychological Profile[/sub]
Mental Evaluation:
Despite the difficult past two years Mr. Foley has endured, he still remains quite the happy-go-lucky individual. In my questioning, he made plenty of jokes and humorous comments; normally, I’d consider this to be some form of defence mechanism, but this all seemed natural to him. When asked about how the past few years had affected him, he simply shrugged his shoulders and said; “I’m alive, and still irritating my Mum even here in America. As long as I can do that, I can’t see reason to be complaining about things.” While this may be a somewhat naive way of looking about things, I think this may have aided him in getting over his troubles. He stated that he gets bad dreams about what happened, but alcohol usually knocks him out nicely when they surface. Again, this could prove to be problematic, but according to Jubilee – who kindly took him on a night out before arriving with him to get “absolutely fucking hammered”, he’s “the sweetest drunk you’ll ever meet, and will make you a flower crown before passing out”. When I reiterated this comment to Mr. Foley, he burst out laughing, which was quite the pleasant sound. Anyway, I digress. Ultimately, he is quite the peaceful individual. Whenever he is feeling stressed, he’ll garden or go for a swim, and has stated that he usually avoids violence. He doesn’t dislike it – “I’m Irish; fist-fighting is in my nature just as much as blood-sucking.” – but nor does he seek it out. SHIELD should be pleased to know this, what with how useful Mr. Foley’s brute strength will be future endeavours. It should also be noted that he is quite conflicted about his Vampiric nature – while he has come to terms with drinking blood, and does so quite happily, it is his conflict with his religion more than anything that causes internal issues. In his eyes, he ponders over whether he has a soul or not, and whether it is damned because of what he is. Naturally, I could not provide an answer for him, but I don’t think he would have accepted it if I had offered one. This seems to be a question that only he can find the answer for himself – for all he has discovered about his Vampiric side, he still has many questions about his human side. Will he stop ageing? Can he die by normal means? Can he have children? All questions that plague his mind, but he tries to not let it bother him in day-to-day life. He also added that he disagrees with many things in his Church, but when probed, he hastily blushed and deflected the question.
Physical Evaluation:
The studying of Mr. Foley was – in a word – fascinating. Naturally, SHIELD is aware of the existence of vampires, thanks to the efforts of Blade and the various skirmishes with the creatures that even the Avengers have had in the past, but Mr. Foley is far different to what I would have considered a true Vampire. Although never having seen one in person myself, thankfully, I am aware from mission reports and experiments as to what a Vampire’s biology is akin to – ultimately, it is a creature inhabiting a dead body, kept strong and preventing degradation through a magical compound known as ichor. Vampires have no heartbeat, no pulse, and for all intents and purposes, are quite dead. Mr. Foley, as it happens, does indeed have a heartbeat and a pulse, although it is considerably faster than what would be deemed healthy in a regular human. One would think that this would make his overall body temperature hotter, but his skin is quite cool to the touch. When asked about this, he stated that his skin can go up in temperature, but it would take exertion, or too much sunshine. “Just like a regular guy, I guess.” He added with a somewhat nervous chuckle, I may add. When asked if his appearance changed any when his “wilder side” came out, Mr. Foley was not willing to provide an example, stating that he can’t just turn it off and on – instead, he described it quite helpfully for me. His canines and second incisors on the top jaw will lengthen and sharpen into fangs, perhaps twice the length of the regular tooth – although already more durable than a regular human’s tooth, they will also harden, making them capable of puncturing metals as strong as steel. He stated that he doesn’t have a habit of going around and biting materials, so Mr. Foley said it was quite possible they could puncture stronger than steel. Additionally, his eyes will blacken, including the sclera. Likely a side-effect of the ichor, enhancing his night-vision, which enhances six-fold when he is in this state. Otherwise, the subject looks like quite the normal human. Standing at around 6’0 with a lightly muscular, wiry frame, Mr. Foley’s subtle muscle density certainly does not betray his true strength. His skin, despite its coolness, has a healthy, if somewhat pale, hue. It should also be noted that the subject has several scars, all looking several years old. This is likely his extensive regeneration healing severe wounds – but as he isn’t a full Vampire, there is some damage that has been left behind. Those of note include several slash marks marring his back, each varying in length; there are also what appear to be old burn marks across his torso, noticeably near his heart. While faded, they are noticeable and indicative of torture. Mr. Foley did not go into detail about them. Facial features betray a look that could be described as brooding, what with his dark brows set above even darker brown eyes, but Mr. Foley smiles far too much to be classed as broody. His smile is indeed a pleasant one to look at; with straight, white teeth, full lips, and dimpled cheeks. Paired with a straight nose, and a dusting of dark stubble across his angled jaw, his is a face I can quite happily declare as attractive. His curly hair matches the same shade as his brows, being a brown so dark it could easily come across as black. At the moment, it is long enough to reach his ears, and is usually pushed back away from his face. Clothing style can easily be described as “rocker”, what with his penchant for band t-shirts, leather jackets and skinny jeans. Mr. Foley also tends to wear fingerless gloves, due to his cool to the touch skin.
Biography:

Roran’s story begins with his Mother, Caitlyn. She had married an English businessman in a spur of the moment fancy, much to the ire of her parents – however, she remained happy enough for a year or so, up until the marriage grew sour. It was no surprise, really – they hadn’t known each other very long before becoming engaged. He began taking longer and longer business trips to try and avoid her, and she wasn’t all that bothered at it – when he was at home, all they did was argue, and then sleep together before awkward silences the next morning. It would have been an endless cycle, what with Caitlyn being a devoted Catholic and therefore firmly disagreeing with divorce, but it came to a shocking end when her husband died. An IRA bomb at the London Stock Exchange in 1990 – he had been caught in the blast, and killed. Caitlyn didn’t have time to be grief-stricken; she had a job, being a Botanist at the local University, and also quite pregnant. She had planned on telling her husband when he returned, but now that he was dead, she was to deal with it herself. Being a very practical woman, she didn’t dwell on the fact. Her parents – despite having disapproved of the marriage to begin with – aided her during her pregnancy, and all was going smoothly. ‘Til the vampire attack, that is. Walking home late from work – maybe two months pregnant at this point – Caitlyn was attacked by a vampire. Some random dude just jumped on her and started biting at her neck, so she wasn’t particularly pleased at this. However, for all her fighting, it wasn’t enough to drive off something as strong as that creature; and so, she thanks God everyday that Hannibal King was in the neighbourhood. It wasn’t by accident, him being there. He’d been tracking this specific vampire for months now, chasing him first across America, and then across the Atlantic into Europe. He’d killed and turned many, and King was always one step behind. He could have chased after his quarry in this instance and perhaps caught him, but King instead got Caitlyn to a hospital. After all, what was the point in all his work if he didn’t save the victims of his kin? While Caitlyn recovered quite nicely from the bite – she hadn’t lost enough blood to lose the baby, nor had she been injected with enough ichor to change her into a vampire – unbeknownst to anyone, the bite was affecting the baby; her Roran. The ichor – while not potent enough to change Caitlyn into a vampire, made its way to her womb and genetically altered Roran while in utero. Technically speaking, Roran is more mutant than vampire, what with his genetic material being altered from such an early stage in his production. Further evidence towards this is that he did not begin displaying symptoms of vampirism until he reached puberty, much like many mutants whose mutations are triggered by the sudden increase in hormones that comes with that stage in life. As such, Roran was quite normal as a kid. He got colds, played football with his friends at school, got in trouble at school for watching football rather than listening in class, went to Church every week with his Mother, swam in competitions, and spent a lot of time gardening with his family – it seemed having green fingers was in the Foley family blood. However, when he turned 12, Roran fell ill. It was a strange thing; fevers, restlessness, increased heart rate. After a few days of being bedridden, Caitlyn finally called out the Doctor to see to him, and when he arrived, the Doctor too was perplexed to what ailed the young lad. It was only when the Doctor nicked his finger on a bit of paper did a change occur in Roran – the smell of the blood hit him, and suddenly he had thrown the Doctor to the floor, latching his teeth on the arm thrown up in defence and drinking from the blood there, locked in place by a ferocious hunger. After a few moments, Roran realised what he was doing and backed away in horror, terrified and confused as to what he had just done, and what he was. Thankfully, the Doctor had hit his head in the fall and was knocked unconscious before he even knew what was going on, so when Caitlyn came upstairs and saw what had transpired, she cleaned both her weeping son and knocked-out Doctor up, phoning an ambulance and saying that the family dog had attacked him. When the Doctor came to, he was so befuddled that he just accepted the story and apologised for causing issues before being carted off to the hospital, never even questioning the fact that the Foley’s didn’t own a dog. Straight after the incident, Caitlyn sat her son firmly down and told him that he was not a monster, and he was not to feel guilty about what had happened. He could not be blamed for something he could not control – and this is when she told him about the existence of the supernatural, and her experience with it 12 years previous. From there, both she and Roran made their peace with what they couldn’t change, and adapted to deal with it. Over the years, Roran had his ups and downs with his “condition”. The pair of them worked out quite quickly that he needed blood to function properly, but with the laboratories Caitlyn worked in, it was quite easy to acquire what she needed without anyone noticing. If anyone did notice and then asked about it, she simply told them she was conducting experiments involving her plants, and gave them a hard stare until they dropped the issue. As Roran went through puberty, he had some good days and some bad days – the ichor in his genetics, the stuff that gave him his vampiric mutation reacted badly with his hormones at times, simply because it wasn’t used to it. The ichor was to deal with the dead, after all. It wasn’t used to this unfamiliar and very much alive host. But, overall, he had a pretty good time with it. Nobody suspected anything, and he kept out of vampiric business; he didn’t go out seeking them. So, it was a complete surprise when the vampire who had attacked his Mother all those years ago, his Sire, returned to Ireland when Roran was 23. As to why his Sire returned, Roran didn’t know. He doesn’t even know the bastard’s name, just that he was curious; curious in what he had created in Roran, and the possibilities that lay within his issue. For he had been watching Roran for some time, and with the realisation that he was a vampire that could walk in the sun without it harming him, his Sire wanted that for himself. However, that would take experimentation. Knowing that Roran wouldn’t agree to even be near him, his Sire incapacitated him and snatched Roran away from Ireland, over the Atlantic back to America. Having ties with the offshoot group of AIM; R.A.I.D, Roran’s sire left him with the scientists there, telling them that while they searched for the key to walking in the sun in his genetics, they could do what they wanted with him. Thus began a year of arduous and torturous experimentations to see what similarities Roran had to regular vampires. Testing involving holy water, fire, UV light, electrocution, holy symbols and silver all took place across the months, just to see how far they could go before killing him. Additionally, the scientists at R.A.I.D starved him of blood, just to see the effects and how long he could go without. And it was this omission that became their undoing. When a scientist entered his cell to take a blood sample, she nicked her finger on the needle. She had gone in unarmed, as for the past few days he had lain in an almost comatose state, not even moving when subjected to electric shocks. But the smell of blood awoke something within him - the same bloodlust that had triggered his mutation as a child. In a blindingly fast movement, his teeth found the scientists neck, ripping out her flesh and feasting on her blood like a ravenous animal. By the time the guards got into the cell, he had drained the scientists dry, and turned on the guards. In this mindless state he tore through the facility, killing everyone in his path while bullets and tasers did nothing to stop him. By the time he’d made his way out of the facility and into the urban wilderness of the city, Roran had no idea where he was... all he knew was that these people who had tortured him had let loose a wildness in him that had been kept quiet for years. After a year or so on the streets, Roran was discovered by two vampires; Jubilee, and Hannibal King, the very same vampire Detective that had saved his Mother’s life years ago. The pair had joined forces momentarily to aid one of Jubilee’s friends, who had been taken by Roran’s Sire; they had arrived too late to save her friend, or catch the monster who had killed her... but they did find information. Information about Roran, and R.A.I.D, and the experiments. Naturally, they had headed there next, in the hopes of rescuing him – but by the time they arrived, the facility was already in ruins, and Roran was gone. It had taken them this long to find him again, and they wanted to help. While King would have been happy to put him out of his misery, Jubilee preferred to give something more helpful – because in his years on the streets, Roran hadn’t taken a single life. He fed on random people, but never enough to kill or turn them, and he had always made sure they received aid afterwards. Jubilee knew that he didn’t want to revert back to the monster unleashed at R.A.I.D labs, and so, while King left once more to search for Roran’s Sire, she offered him aid. After a great deal of coaxing, she convinced him to at least come to the hotel where she was staying to clean up and get some good, old fashioned, regular human food. Once there – and promises fulfilled (Mother of God, In N’ Out burgers chased away every bad feeling) – she told him about her story and how Xavier’s Academy had helped her. Naturally, Roran knew about the X-Men, and knew they were seen as good people by a lot. So, he went with Jubilee to the Academy in Pennsylvania, immediately being welcomed inside once the pair had arrived. After being checked up by Jean Grey (She was far gentler than the last Doctor’s he’d dealt with, and thanked her for such – he had a feeling she was using her psychic ability somewhat to put him at ease in the clinical room, but he wasn’t complaining.), and having a long talk with Professor Xavier himself, they both came to the conclusion that Roran couldn’t stay at the Academy. It didn’t take a telepath to know that Roran still wasn’t entirely comfortable around humans, and both he and Xavier knew he was at a potential risk for “relapsing.” For the Academy didn’t have much in terms of internal security – they had enough outside enemies to deal with without having to concern themselves with potential internal threats. However, Xavier did want to help Roran, knowing that ultimately, the lad wanted to do good rather than bad in the world. So, he contacted SHIELD, knowing that they had a similar facility, only with far more internal protection and safe-guards. It took some convincing, but SHIELD agreed to take Roran on. If not just to help, but to keep an eye on him. He couldn’t prey on the innocent with Nick Fury’s single eye glaring on down at him 24/7.

[sub]Extras[/sub]
Likes:

Britney Spears – fuck you, most of her songs are catchy as fuck and he will defend her till the day he dies.
Plants – most of them, anyway. Dislikes seaweed when swimming in the sea though. Yes, it tastes good, and is awesome with seaweed wraps, but having the slimy shit caress your bare feet while wading in water is not pleasant. Also, gardening is a real peaceful thing to take your mind off things.
Folksy music – Loves The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, etc. Also, Rocky Road to Dublin. Listen to that shit immediately.
Horror movies – Is he part vampire? Yes. Does that diminish his love for horror movies, including vampire offshoots? Nope. Not in the least – he always has a nice little collection of vampire movies wherever he stays. The Lost Boys, Interview with a Vampire, 30 Days of Night... yup, he appreciates both the awesome flicks, and the irony.
Football and Rugby – he’s from Ireland, what do you expect? Is an avid watcher of both sports, and naturally, supports Ireland in both. Will celebrate with alcohol when his team wins, and will drown his sorrows in alcohol if his team loses. Either way, alcohol.
The Sun – Yup, more irony. Sunlight doesn’t harm him in the least, just causes irritation to his eyes. So, once he whacks on some sunglasses, he’s fine. The sun feels comforting, to him. The warmth of it on his usually cold skin, the fact that he can still get a tan (YES, SUCK ON IT, DRACULA), and the fact that he’s safe from other Vampires in it, all puts him at ease.
Animals – as mentioned in his skills, Roran gets along very well with animals. He enjoys their company just as much as they enjoy his, and it won’t be uncommon to see him petting a random stray cat or some form of bird while sat outside.
His Church – while he is faithful to it, Roran has some concerns as to what his religion allows. He prefers to focus on the “accepting everyone” bit, rather than the “If you do this certain thing that is normal but we see as bad, you’ll burn in Hell for eternity” bit.
Bright lights – For all he loves the sun, it still gives him headaches to be out in it. Although sunglasses sort that problem out, he regrets not being able to go without them.
Experimentation – the very word sends a shudder down his spine, even though experiments can be as simple and innocent as a baking soda volcano. He’ll avoid anything that looks generally clinical, laboratories, and people wearing white coats. It all brings back bad memories.
Spiders – What? People can have dumb little phobias like spiders, okay?

Miscellaneous:

Drinks like an Irishman, but doesn’t fight like one. Would rather down a bottle of vodka and/or whiskey than start to cause shit.
Loves cooking a freaking lot. Boy can whip up something tasty in minutes.
Swears a lot – just casually throwing in profanities in regular conversation, unless he’s in the presence of superiors, respectful figures, or his Mother.
Has a South Dublin accent, and will fight anyone with a North Dublin or Belfast accent. (Joking, please don’t hurt him.)
Still catches colds and man-flu, the latter naturally being the worst thing that’s happened since Ebola.
Has a large collection of various plants and herbs in his room, so walking in will be intoxicating, to say the least. Unless you have hayfever. If you have hayfever, avoid his room like the plague. [s]or like man-flu[/s].
Is a total Mummy’s boy.
