The man ended up taking Vaughn back with him onto the ship. He Vaughn initially came for the food, and promises of a safe happy life, but quickly found the cult ship full of rules, and crazy religion. He made friends with a few of the other orphans. His best friends were Iris and Glen. Glen was like the leader of their little trouble making trio. Running away together was the dream, and after a particularly brutal punishment, in which all his finger nails were ripped out, his forehead was bashed in, and his arm broken they decided running away was their only option. They stole a little boat, and 2 months of supplies. Finally they were happy to be free from the Leviathan ship, and the evil cult leader Elroy. They later joined a gang of orphaned teens who called themselves the Urchins, and stole and conned around the ocean. Unfortunately they ended stealing from a lone boat in the ocean that belonged to a pirate. The pirates found them and killed four of his friends including Glen. He was shot in the arm, and the pirates through him overboard. It’s been about ten years since then, and he has survived against all odds. Vaughn is 25 years old.
