Standing at only 5"1, Tessa has a petite, dancer's body. Her thick mahogany locks fall down to her mid-back is loose waves in which are found to be pretty much untameable in the early hours of the morning. Her angelic features include wide, chocolate-brown eyes framed by dark lashes, a dusting of freckles across the bridge of her nose, and full pink lips hiding her pearly white teeth. Her clothing usually consists of pastel-coloured summery dresses and tops that flaunt her ballerina's physique; and she wears next to no makeup excluding special occasions. Tess tends to stay away from high heels, thanks to her clumsiness, so likes to wear ballet pumps or Converse.

[u]Daydreaming;[/u] Tessa is seemingly always in a world of her own, she'll often zone out of conversations and people often view her as being too distracted to manage. 
[u]Labelled as mute;[/u] making her voice heard is not something that Tessa is used to. She just doesn't talk. No one really knows the reason for it, but she is perfectly comfortable staying quiet most of the time. 
[u]Nail biting;[/u] a nervous trait she has picked up over time, her hands are often bloody and her fingernails torn and jagged.

Her vulnerable mental and physical state is something that brings out the protectiveness in most people, as well as tempting out the goodness in others. Her happiness is so remarkable that one smile could be enough to brighten a day, and her sadness enough to make anyone feel helpless. Because of this innocence to her, she feels things much more powerfully than what is seen as normal, which is mostly the cause of her need for others to be content. 
 
[b]Enigmatic[/b] - Because of her lack of words, most find Tessa's mystery to be infuriating. Her silence leads a lot of people to view her as a stranger, someone always on the outside of things. Few even just regard her as an object rather than an actual person, perhaps ignoring her completely or underestimating how smart she actually can be. 

[b]Naïve[/b] - Her innocence often does lead to her vulnerability when it comes to trust. Tessa tries very hard to find the good in everyone, even if it is not necessarily there. She can be tricked easily in that sense, and, seeing as she does experience heightened emotions, the effects of her being conned or mislead could have a great toll on her emotional state. She is very much like a precious crystal glass; she is extremely valuable, yet once she has been broken, it is near impossible to return her back to the way she was before.

Tessa was born into a rich family and, being an only child, was given everything she wanted. In her early childhood years, it was clear to see that she was a spoilt brat. In nursery, if she was not happy, she would hold her breath until something was done about it. She would frequently be ill after suffering fainting spells because of this habit. Her bratty behaviour and infuriating attitude got her kicked out of many schools across London until it got to the point in which her parent had had enough and off to boarding school she went. 

In this new school she was harshly disciplined and a completely changed girl emerged six months later. This new start, however, could not change the fact that Tessa's parents were struggling. During her second summer break when she was fourteen years old, Tessa walked in on her father screwing another woman. It had been the last straw for her mother, so they packed up and left to stay with relatives in New York. 

The events that had unfolded and the mess that was now her life took a huge toll on Tessa. She lapsed into becoming 'selectively mute', as diagnosed by a counsellor. As soon as she reached the age of eighteen, her mother told her to leave. The excuse was that she 'looked too much like her father', with her large brown eyes and fair skin. 

Not many landlords were interested in housing a 'psychologically damaged' girl such as herself, at least, not until she met Mister Black. He set her up with an apartment without much fuss and she now has been settled in for just over a year.
