I believe we wanted them to settle into their routine for a few days to almost a week. It was going to be a bit of filler, nothing more than handling their new status in the school, and getting along together. It's the first time they've really been alone together for long periods, so without the threat of danger we can use those days to help them get along even better than they already are. I think Goshikuro's lackey would begin to affect another chosen student during the week at some point, which Kurama and/or Botan pick up the signs or sense, and move to apprehend the one behind it all. OR, he could try affecting Botan, and Botan can either resist the effects or Kurama can stop her before she absentmindedly does something reckless. She DOES stand out.
