[@mattmanganon] apology accepted mate. I don't think that having a human as a character would prevent character development at all. You can choose to make your character a member/former member of the military or FBI, thus being skilled in combat and firearms or explosives. He or she would also not be the only human character as there maybe be 2 other humans joining you. They could assist in training the other students in combat and firearms. Another thing is that eventually I will most likely be accepting mutants again and your character could develop their powers if you wanted to. I understand that you have had some shitty luck in the past and I feel for you but in this thread your character is only as weak and underdeveloped as your imagination and you cannot blame anyone for your character's lack of progression if they had no skills to begin with. Again, YOUR CHARACTER'S PROGRESSION IS LIMITED BY YOUR OWN IMAGINATION, IF YOU MAKE THEM OUT TO BE A NORMAL JOE THEN THEY MAY NOT MAKE THE KIND OF PROGRESS YOU WANT TO SEE AND IT IS UNFAIR OF YOU TO BLAME IT ON ANYONE ELSE WHEN IT WAS YOUR FAULT TO BEGIN WITH. If I see your character being ignored then I will step up and interact with them or have someone else do it if I cannot. I don't believe that being human will give you a disadvantage in the slightest and I think that is very narrow minded of you to think that. While it is true that the X-MEN mainly focus on the mutants, it has already been clearly expressed that normal humans are in fact capable of working alongside the X-MEN and not be hindered by their lack of powers. You don't even have to be a good guy if you don't want to, you can be an Equalist if that tickles your fancy. I am more than willing to assist you with coming up with something but whether you choose to join or not is up to you
