After several minutes he placed his hands on her shoulders and took a step back from her, his eyes gazing down at her, intending to meet her own. "I am doing this, because it was what he asked me to do. It was one of his...let us call them, last wishes...." his voice trailed off as he said the last, but his expression did not waver, nor did his eyes from hers. He brought her close and hugged her briefly and tightly before letting one arm fall away from her where it came to rest at her side. Eyes turning back to the burning fortress, before shifting to the horizon. “You're coming along,” he stated abruptly before, just as suddenly, transporting them elsewhere. In a flash they reappeared elsewhere, far away from the town where he had lived all his life. Gritting his teeth slightly he glanced about before closing his eyes and expanding his senses from their immediate vicinity to several hundred miles in every direction, Lacain searched for what his master had told him would be near this place. Around them trees swayed and creatures of the night made their presence known, though Lacain ignored them almost completely. He had transported them to the Forest of Daeszel, a place where few men went for fear of getting lost in the massive expanse of wilderness...or worse, being taken by the Shaeriel'm en who lived therein. Yet, oddly, the mage showed no fear of either possibility.
