Lacain

Noting the approach of the Shae, Lacain's attention suddenly split, the surface of stone before them continuing to split as the nature of his barrier altered, some of the threads of invisible energy that made it up extending outwards and weaving together. However, it appeared that the Shae was entirely aware of the construct as it beat away at the wall of stone that Iyl had thrown up. Smiling to himself at her efforts before the emotion drained from his face, replaced only by intense concentration. While the Archmage weaved his spell, the Shae took action, its massive bear-like form beating against the stone wall for a moment wall before it fell back to all fours, paced back and forth and then ran fill tilt into the wall, vines and great bows of wood and thorns extended into horns on its head and gouged into the stone, before being retracted only for it to strike again. In a moment its strength doubled and the whispers from the forest intensified, somehow audible even above the roar of the male Shae and its violence. Lacain frowned and let loose his spell, redirecting its focus to their surroundings. In an instant a strange red energy manifested around the pair, and then expanded into a surge of red wind, igniting the Shae and eliciting several psychic screams from the hidden females. However, despite the burning, which swiftly began to subside, the Shae redoubled their efforts to get at the two intruders. Knowing he couldn't use the Language to further empower any spells without destabilizing the delicate one which was opening the door to the pathway before them, Lacain hoped that they could hold out till the gateway opened fully. Extending his free hand to Iyl's shoulder he allowed her access to some of the tremendous energies that his form now held, at least half of which was his own, the rest of which had a muddled signature. Only one part of that signature would be familiar to Iyl...and it was Teraem's. Not all of him had died this night, some lived on through his pupil...and would continue to do so for ages to come.
