Then you're hanging around the wrong crowds. Most people aren't like that after they've encountered the real world. I take it you're in (or have recently graduated from) your local equivalent of high school or something, judging by how you describe people.

I always have guitar picks lying around. It's a side effect of having bought something like 200 of them several years ago.
