Yes, those names are relatively meaningless, and no, Dan doesn't really know where they come from. It seems like he doesn't care, either.
Epithet:
Although he's often called 'Zam-bam Makerman' he's also commonly referred to as Dan the Man.
Appearance:
The picture in his file is rather telling, but there should be some more information about him here regardless of that. That unassuming, rather emotionless look on his face? That's always there. Dan seems to not understand, or not care, as to what is going on 90% of the time. The 10% of the time he does understand what is going on, Dan seems to still hold on to that same expression. This expression has also spread to the rest of his body - he looks rather unimpressive, being slightly smaller than most pirates, less bulky, and generally more skinny and weaker. He doesn't stand up straight to push out his chest, but he rather just hangs around and slumps slightly. All in all, he doesn't look like a threat. Probably because he isn't a threat.
Height/Weight:
5'6'', 121 lbs.
Age:
20
Personality:
Aha. Ahahaha. Yeah. Where to start - Dan is an interesting man. Not because he's interesting, not at all. Mostly because he's really not interesting.. whatsoever. In fact he's far from interesting, and that's what makes him interesting. But enough jest. Dan is how he looks, unassuming, and seems to be rather careless when it comes to what is going on around him. A ship is being boarded? He'll probably sit on a box in the corner and wait for the fighting to be over, before getting up and boarding the ship of whoever won. Perhaps this is one of his, albeit few, strengths. He is able of blending in and going unnoticed until it's too late, at which point he is also capable of being unassuming and unimpressive enough to just.. sit out the ride until something else happens. While Dan is a rather unassuming person, that doesn't mean he doesn't get mad, or anything like that. He does get mad! But, actually, people tend to not take notice to him, even if he's yelling, because frankly he's not too impressive in size or format. He might just yell at you for a minute, shake his fist, and then continue lazing about. Or he might throw a punch, but I wouldn't be too worried about this 5'6'' 121 lbs. guy. It'll be like a light tap for most of the really strong pirates.
Home Island/Sea:
Comes from the Gecko Islands, from some unassuming village that nobody really knows or cares about. The catch is that Dan doesn't really speak about this either because it's not so important to him, as he's wandered around the world since childhood.
History:
Dan was born as the son of a man and woman, a man and woman whose names are unimportant as you would not recognize them anyway. They were much like Dan is now - unassuming, boring people who just did a bit of farming and sat inside, talking among themselves about stuff that is not really important to a strong pirate, or a cool marine. However from a young age, Dan's parents said he had a certain sparkle in his eyes. The sparkle of adventure. It's not like anyone else could see that sparkle, but his parents said it was there, and it seemed to have been true given Dan has been all over the world and then back, before reaching even the ripe age of 18. See, as a kid he wandered over to one of the bigger towns with a port, and then wandered onto a ship. Supposedly to have a look, or was it that sparkle in his eyes? Regardless, nobody took notice to an 8 year old kid wandering onto the ship and then proceeding to lay down between some boxes and taking a nap. From then on, Dan's adventure began. It's questionable if he even understood himself what he was doing, but regardless, people never took notice and he seemed to get by on food and drink, taking it from the ships without anyone really caring. The few times someone noticed him, they just assumed he was a lost child and dropped him off at the nearest island, from where he'd just repeat the process. The 'lost child' routine became harder when he got older, and once he turned 16, people seemed to no longer buy the idea of him being a lost child, so he had to work harder on not standing out too much. So, he just 'joined the crew' for an undefined time. Mopping a ship was rather easy, and it was easy to discern other tasks that pirates, marines or just simple travelers fulfilled. So, sometimes he'd pretend to be a cook, sometimes he'd pretend to be a deckhand, and one time he even pretended to be a pirate on accident. He had tied his cleaning rag around his head to store it there for a moment, and when a pirate asked him who he was, he turned to face the pirate. 'Oh, sorry! I didn't see your bandana. You're obviously a pirate.' Aye, aye. A pirate. Dan doesn't speak much, so he just looked at the man with an unassuming gaze, making the situation quite awkward for the pirate, who then proceeded to hurry away in embarrassment. Now, he's stuck on Elfen island, having been there for some time (a few weeks, at most) waiting for another ship to wander onto by accident and enjoy the trip. Unbeknownst to him, his fate dictates that he is about to meet the Golden Fleece crew.
Fruit:
Ah. Ahahaha. No, Dan doesn't have a fruit. They're kinda rare for regular old Joe's (or Dan's).
Abilities/Race Traits:
Is comedic relief an ability? He can cook, clean, be lazy, take really good naps, and he's a good listener (mostly because he doesn't speak.) Frankly he's quite useless when it comes to being a pirate, but that didn't seem to stop the Golden Fleece crew when they took Sancho into the crew.
Fighting style:
He can punch. And kick. Not sure if the strong pirates would feel it, but he can definitely punch and kick. Since Dan isn't really that strong, he has trouble using swords. Perhaps the Golden Fleece crew can give him a butter knife, and he might be able to hit people with such a small, blunt object. Sometimes it's joked that he's the creator of the Mop-the-floor Mop-Martial-Arts (Mop-the-floor MMA) style. But that's an elaborate lie.
Ship Positions:
By decree of the noble pirate, Sancho, Dan Zam-bam Makerman Gritt is to be named the honorary poet of the Golden Fleece crew, entertainer and dancer, honorable writer and singer, comedian on the Golden Fleece talent-nights (which he's the only participant in) and glorified chore boy. Most of these titles are titles given to him as a joke by any random crew member of the Golden Fleece crew.
Bounty:
0. But given he's with the most stupid crew in all of the seas, it's probably about to go up.
